From today’s Liturgy of the Hours:

Prayers and Intercessions

Christ is the way, the truth, and the life. Let us proclaim his glory and cry out to him:
– Son of the living God, bless your people.

We pray to you, Christ, for all the ministers of your Church. As they break for us the bread of life,
let it sustain them too, and give them strength.
– Son of the living God, bless your people.

We pray to you for all Christians. Let them worthily live their vocations;
let them come together in peace and unity of spirit.
– Son of the living God, bless your people.

We pray to you for those who rule us. Let them perform their duties justly and mercifully,
until there is peace and harmony throughout the world.
– Son of the living God, bless your people.

We pray to you to make us worthy to celebrate you in the communion of saints;
and we entrust to your care our brethren who have died.
– Son of the living God, bless your people.

Our Father, who art in Heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Almighty and eternal God, you have used the mysteries of Easter to seal a covenant of reconciliation with the human race.
Give our minds the ability to put into action
what we celebrate and profess.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.
Amen.

Dear adstrinity,

Pray, hope, and don’t worry is what St. Padro Pio tells us to do. And I assure you, adstrinity, that you are being remembered in my daily prayers: my rosaries, Masses, and adorations. Tomorrow again I’ll offer the Mass especially for your intention of getting the job with the PD. If God wants you to grow in patience, you have the perfect opportunity though! I pray that you find the patience, strength and kindness to keep well at your old job for now until you get a better one. Peace and God bless!

Yesterday, two things happened:
  1. I called up the Lt. again and left a message asking him to call me back. Still hasn’t happened.
  2. I called J at her house and left a message saying I am tendering my resignation and I will be there on Friday to pick up my last paycheck.
She called me a little bit ago and wants me to call her back (no) concerning…I don’t know. She said she was looking over my application…I hope she’s not going to keep the paycheck where I worked 17.5 hours but the next one, which would be my last one, where I worked 3 hours…

So, as it stands, I have no job, but, I do have a lead. In the meantime, I am using my time to clean up the house as I have still been living out of boxes in part for the past four months.

Prayers to get motivated to start looking for work appreciated, prayers to help me through this VERY appreciated, and, as always, prayers for the Muskogee job (or any job that could be a career) prefered.

Thank you all and may God bless you.

I’m rooting for you and still praying! God has a job in mind for you and you’ll definitely get it in His time. He won’t try you beyond what you can handle, so pray, hope, and don’t worry - and do whatever you have to do in order to find the right job. Hopefully you’ll get the job with the PD, if it is the right job God wants for you. (He knows what is best for us, more than we ourselves know.)

Lord, please grant adstrinity strength and patience. Also grant her confidence in You and total abandonment to Your will. Bless her and make her grow even closer to you throughout this time of seeking new employment and may she get the best job. Thank you and I ask this in the name of your Son, Jesus. Amen.

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of death.
Amen.

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen

Hey Again, All!!

Thank you so much for your prayers!! They were surely answered! Let me tell you what happened.

Last Sunday I found out that the City next to the city in which I live is looking for a Dispatcher for the Police Department. I went in on Wednesday to pick up an application. There were none out and the contact was ill and away from the office. I went back on Friday. The application was a 24 page packet.

I intended to hand it in on Monday, but, that didn’t happen. I started it on Sunday, I think, and continued it on Monday. I was up until 5:00 Tuesday morning working on it but growing tired. I figured I would get a few hours sleep (not set my alarm), and get up, finish it, and comfortably turn it in yesterday afternoon.

At 8:00 I get a call from somebody from McAlester.

“I’m sorry, this is who from McAlester?” I asked sleepily.

“This is Josh from the Answer Service in McAlester.”

I perked up.

He wanted me to come in for an interview. We decided at 10 in the morning.

I went in at 10. I was there, he was not. He had forgotten, he admitted via text to the girl behind the front desk who texted him. He was with a client and asked if I would come back at 3. I inquired to the girl if he would be there. She said she would make sure he would.

I go home, try to nap, decide to get up, finish the packet/application, hand it in around 2:50 this afternoon (deadline was today), and go to the interview, which was maybe three minutes away.

I’d like to think I presented myself well. He asked me what shift I wanted and I told him afternoon or overnight.

“Really?”

“Yes, I’m not a morning person. I’m really, really not a morning person.”

“I kind of realized that from the call this morning.”

He told me he had two overnight girls but would like a back up just in case. My shift would probably be 3 in the afternoon to 8 or 9, so, part time for now.

I would get Oklahoma minimum wage (lower than the National, BUT, not only is the cost of living cheaper down here, but, I live in the poorest county in the state*), taxes would be taken out, raises are given out where applicable, even part timers get medical insurance and a vacation (after a year, the vacation).

He told me he would get back to me by today or yesterday.

He then called the reference I listed from the answering service I worked at in IL.

She confirmed everything I said, also added I was a great trainer, and, given the opportunity, she would take me back in a heartbeat. (I called her to thank her. I half figured he called her when I got the job.)

He called be back yesterday saying he was going to go ahead and go with me. I start Thursday at 10pm. I work Thursday and Friday 10pm to 6am and then Monday and Tuesday, when I start at 10am. From there, after training, he will give me my schedule.

So, again, thank you all. I want to point out something: I quit my job last Monday, I didn’t worry TOO much and didn’t look for other employment (I had applied to the answering service here when I was still at my last job), and just yesterday, Tuesday, about a week later, I got the call that I’m employed again. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Thank you for all your Masses, your Rosaries, your Our Fathers, Hail Mary’s and all quick impromptu prayers to God and various saints. Thank you to all who are not of my faith who might have prayed for me. Thank you. I now have the opportunity to combine the work I love with the hours my body can best tolerate. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

*Which, as a friend pointed out, isn’t it funny, it’s the poorest county, yet, I get hired, “all the time.” Up in IL, where there are always a litany of listed jobs, they are always open, and it is rather difficult to actually get employed, as my friends and I have encountered.

Yay! I guess my prayers were kinda retroactive since I somehow missed the last couple of messages. But that’s wonderful!
