I know! I’ve been all over the place online, trying to figure out how to talk to her about this. I’ve checked out her sources which SEEM neutral but who knows. It’s hard when someone like me doesn’t know catholic history well enough to defend it very quickly. I didn’t even know who Wycliffe was until today when I researched it!

Whew!

Did you read this?

Yes, I found this on Wikipedia under “the catholic version” or something like that. They also had “the protestant version” and other versions of events. I was afraid to use it because wikipedia is a favorite on that site when it comes to any religious talks.

Yeah Sir Knight, that is all well and good; but in the real world, you know, the one that the pro-lifers and gay haters go to get laws pass to put the common believers, christians, and the rest of God’s creations put away for their corruption when they sin they pay/are punish in a court by their peers. When you have the Vatican to hide you and your sins with no regards for the victims, you kind-a have to ask yourself, will Jesus do that? It seems to me that because the gates of Hades won’t prevail against you, you seeked it on the rest of us and you do that without mercy. Sir Knight how un-Christ like is that?
O.K. Is he supporting Abortion and homosexuality and opposing stoping it? But, our sins are out in the open now and we have to deal with it. But, the things of the past (the Prostestants perescuted people in the past but, are still hiding that.). and people sin, Christ never told that the people in the church would be perfect.
It’s like this preacher who believed that God allowed the leaders of the church certain sins because they do His work. He used the same scriptures and went ahead and got himself another wife without a divorce from the first. You have to asked, would Jesus do that? In this case the church did not back him, I guess he made the wrong choice, he should have been catholic. I’ll leave this open for now, but asked yourself, what’s wrong with that picture?
Hey, didn’t Martian Luther who was a preist marry someone (monks take a vow of celebicy hows that for pure wonderful Protestants). And Seventh Day Adventist alow divorce and remariage dispite Jesus saying that was a sin as well as most Protestant churches. Whats wrong with that picture?

Montie Claunch, can I use your reply? Cause I have no clue to what point he/she is trying to make.

Sure, have at it. Just remeber that I have a copyright on it. 😃 If I say anything of use to anyone I will never mind the use of it.

Hey, Loboto-Me and Sir Knight keep me filled in on this. I am interested.

Great answer Montie! Thanks for your help!
No problem. Just remeber they can’t prove statement wrong by attacking the persons charecter. 2+2 is always 4 no matter how bad the person saying it is.
So Just because the Catholic Church has had a few Bad apples dosen’t prove anything.
Next time someone tries saying how bad the Catholic Church is, bring up the thousands of saints that the Catholic Church has had in the fold in the centuries (just counting the ones officialy recoginzed not all).
Also if they say how narrowminded the Catholic Church is, I would suggest How The Catholic Church Saved Western Civilization by Thomas E. Woods, Jr, Ph.D. Esspically Chapter four “The Church and the University” and Chapter Five “The Church and Science” (I’m still reading it but, what I have read so far is a gold mine and he quotes ample sourses) should close the close minded issue.
Come back if I can help with anything. 👍

Do I believe that there are true christians in the catholic church? YES I do, as I also believe that there are true christians in all the other earthly churches but only a remnant.
And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
O.K. Dosen’t The woman from Revalation 12 (?) represent mary (and the Church) though?
For anyone who want the true history of the catholic church and the first church try this site: history-world.org/mainmenu.htm
If you want the catholic spin they have a number of sites to chose from.
“At least in an inchoate form all the elements of catholicity–doctrine, authority, universality–are evident in the New Testament.” Thanks for the website info. The Cathoilic Church in baby form exesited in the New Testament, how 'bout that?

On the Third one, I would like to comment that I never noticed that the Church got in the way of me and God but, helped me get closer. Kinda like a Letters or a phone, these things are not in the way of knowing God they help me to know him better. Something I am thankful for.

On the fourth one, agian I thought that the woman represented Mary and to a certain extent the Church Christ founded which historically is the Catholic Church

Sir, it seems you’re doing quite well there. At least with “Davious” the “argument” is staying on track, and is understandable arguement rather than jumping all over the place like it did with “Urisstar”.

PS: Nice link to appologetics site… one I’d never come across (put it in my appologetics favorites)

Yes, try this link. “Mary, Ark of the Covenant.”

Sir Knight: on cannibalism

Cannibalism is consuming someone else in the attempt to break someone down and assimilate them as part of you. The cannibal eats the flesh, and the flesh breaks down and becomes part of the cannibal. Not so with the Eucharist-- every portion of it to the tiniest part contains Christ in His entire flesh, blood, soul and Divinity-- rather Christ remains whole and inviolate. That’s why the Eucharist is unitive, why we become one Body in Christ though the breaking of the bread, because we all share in the same, undividable Christ.

I know that this question is going to come up so I would like to start preparing for it now …

If salvation exists outside of the Catholic faith, why become a Catholic? Why not follow one of the less strict Christian denomination?

… Your replies will be most appreciated.

I would say that salvation CAN exist outside the Church. Some of those that are non-catholic are only on the first step toward salvation (I believe, therefore I’m saved). The rest of the story belongs to the Church (the sacraments).

Some non-catholic churches have the sacraments (orthodox) and others have what they believe is the sacraments (Lutheran)

The sacraments are only valid with the laying on of the hands and it’s only catholic priests and orthodox priests that have that.

I know there’s a better answer than mine thought. Mine is a tad “simplistic”

I’m in the process of researching why the Church bothered to translate the Bible… This is like having kids… it’s fun but it’s alot of work!

Well, I Think (stressing Think here) that the salvation outside the church is a saved by ingorance thing (thought I could be wrong) but, I would wonder that if one knew the truth but, did not attempt to live up to it (on a conscience level) that you wouldn’t achive salvation (kinda like the parable with the three sewerts that reseived money from their master and two did something with the money and one did not and that one got int trouble for haveing the money {truth} and not doing anything with it, so I guess that those that had never revcieved the truth {$0 money} wouldn’t be expected to do anything while those who do have it have to do something {try to live up to it} my thoughts only and I have been known to be wrong from time to time). Hope this helps.
