I am a graduate of St. Aloysius High School (corner of Rampart and Esplanade). But our eighth grade used the facilities of St. Augustine. We went to Mass most Fridays at St. Augustine. I respectfully remember many jazz funerals which started from the funeral parlor across the street from St. Augustine. I have read Fr. Jerome LeDoux’s columns even though I have lived in Baton Rouge for these 30 years. St. Augustine’s should not be closed. It is part and parcel of our collective history in New Orleans. We should not throw our history away.
