Yet it carries anti-industrialist ideals which Marxism is known for. However, though you have successfully differentiated your stance from Marxism, you’ve actually presented another ridiculous world view. There are more important things than the global market. I don’t know if we can return to family style businesses, but the focus does need to be more local than it is today. The global market is, in many ways, dehumanizing, and respecting the dignity of the human person is an important Catholic principle. What good has outsourcing and the global market done for the Rust Belt?

In all honestly, I can’t see what your imaginary situation of a screaming child whose mother is leaving the house has to do with anything either communist or Pokemon.

Even the Church knows there’s nothing inherently evil about corporate business. People can wish themselves back into the cornfield as hard as they can—it’s simply not going to happen.

Do you understand that Mom and Pop stores can be run by theives and liars, as can farms—though the grueling occupation of farming doesn’t leave much time or energy for complaints and childish behavior.

It’s foolish to suggest that only modern life ‘requiring people to be away from home’ results in screaming children. I am certain that children have screamed since the dawn of time.

Even though the USA may be lost, there is nothing yet requiring Moms to stay away from home in droves. Oh, except the evils of feminism… yeah, forgot about that…

Think about other cartoons: Johnny Test’s talking dog Dukey. What boy doesn’t want a talking dog?

Sadly, I’m not a kid anymore though. :o Now my fantasies are more about kicking people’s butt in a children’s card game and having them gaze upon me in terror from my pure, evilly awesomeness. :cool:

A “familiar” is an evil animal spirit for those who are uneducated. you can even look up the definition in the online dictionary.

So think about that before playing Pokemon or Magic the Gathering or even D&D.

How is a fire breathing lizard like charmander inspired by say… a fast moving cricket?? I don’t get it. From what i’ve seen most pokemon aren’t even bugs or insects.

I did not say they were bugs or insects, though some are. I said they were inspired by games that rural Japanese kids play with insects.

They are animals. They are make-believe. Not demonic.

I’d be a lot more worried about this lame duck congress than amusing cartoon characters.

I thought the main problem with Pokemon is that is says it’s okay to train animals to fight eachother. But kids understand that Pokemon is not real and, even though it would be cool to have little pet monsters, it’s not going to happen. You’ll just have to be satisfied with you cat or dog. I don’t think that kids will be negatively influenced by Pokemon, there’s nothing really wrong with it.
