All refugees, irrespective of their religion, should be provided with assistance, noted the Polish Episcopal Conference at a meeting in Warsaw.

“It is related to such matters as safety or social security. The Church does not have the possibility to provide refugees with jobs and education,” the spokesman added.
The clergy confirmed, however, that the Catholic Church is committed to the issue and will continue to help refugees via Caritas, a charity organisation active in about 5,000 Polish parishes.

irrespective of their religion
Yeah, but nobody really gives a wet slap about the Christian refugees recently (the Pope didn’t bring any back from Lesbos, despite some being told they would be), so I don’t fault the Polish government if they want to focus on a very marginalized area.

Are you implying something xenophobic/racist?
The first passage shows Jesus clearly took precedence of his own people over outsiders. Given the track records of Muslims coming into Europe, that means that it’s not as cut and dry that letting people in that have a history of creating violence and unrest is the Catholic way.

As for pearls before swine:

Not xenophobic: I do not fear them.
Not racist: I do not think myself superior to them.

Obviously the Polish Church hasn’t been following the news in Germany.
