see Police accused of 'get Pell' focus | Camden-Narellan Advertiser | Camden, NSW
The defense lawyer “said in court on Wednesday that Operation Tethering investigating Cardinal Pell started as an operation looking for a crime when no crimes had been reported.”
“Detective Superintendent Paul Sheridan said it was an ‘intel probe’ to see whether there were unreported serious crimes. ‘I guess you could term it the way you did, but I wouldn’t term it that way,’” he told the defense lawyer in court.
It came out at the hearing too that the police investigated Cardinal Pell for a year when no complaints had been made at all, and that some were made only after a year.
