According to the Council of Catholic Analysts, the security forces “opened the tabernacle, removed the ciborium containing the consecrated hosts, and threw it on the ground. The hosts were left broken and scattered all over the floor. “This information was verified by the chaplain in charge of prison ministry for the diocese,” the council said.
And in a Catholic-majority country too! How can they be so oblivious? Was there not even one police officer who did not have the slightest clue of this great insult to our Lord who is also their Lord?

I pray that God may forgive them. 😦

Seriously, wouldn’t it be obvious that in a chapel there will be holy objects and things?

Ridiculous. Isn’t this a violation of religious freedom or anything as such?

Wow. I don’t know if I’ve ever felt so crushed when it comes to actions against the faith. They just must not realize what the host means to us as Catholics.
Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, they know not what they do.”
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Yeah, that;s why they oepend the tabernacle and randomly threw the Eucharist on the ground…

Satan knows exactly what he is doing.

My thoughts exactly. Many of us think of Mexico as a Catholic nation, but Satan and his minions are everywhere. Satanism, occultism, drug trafficking, corruption, and poverty are deadly combinations.

Presumably the police were looking for hidden drugs. It doesn’t excuse throwing the Blessed Sacrament to the floor (do we know for certain it was all the contents of the ciborium or just one or two?) but would explain why they were rooting in the Tabernacle in the first place.

I assume the chaplain unlocked it for them? I suppose he wouldn’t have had any choice over that. I mean, surely it hadn’t been left unlocked.

Why? While the population of Mexico is majority Catholic, the government has been antiCatholic for about 100 years now. Things have gotten better but the government is still not Church friendly.

It has not been so long ago that Caholicism was persecuted and banned in Mexico. That’s what the Cristero’s wars were all about. And it could happen here.

From what I’ve been told the government faced a bit of a problem when BJP2 visited Mexico back in the 1990’s. Apparently the law was still on the books that banned Catholic clergy from wearing clerical attire in public. It was essentially unenforced by that time but was still an embarrassing situation that they had to correct before his visit…

Why? Because the population of Mexico is majority Catholic.

The fact remains that evil is alive in Mexico. Whether the policemen in question abused the the Eucharist deliberately or simply out of ignorance is up in the air, but I would go out on a limb of say that they probably should’ve known better having grown up in a country full of Catholics.

Yes, but even a cursory look at Mexican history shows strong antiCatholicism.
Yes, but there’s also been a clear distinction between the people and the government for centuries. Mexico isn’t the representative democracy we’re accustomed to, and the haves and have nots have been at each other’s throats for almost 500 years.

This is despicable and outrageous! How dare they desecrate Our Lord in such a way? May they learn what kind of a despicable thing they have done. For what reason would they want to do this?
