Judging from the number of complaints, its possible that the archbishop is not directly involved, and that the police suspected that information about priests around the country was being withheld. However, Archbishop Andre-Joseph Leonard, who has held his office since January, has vowed “zero tolerance” for cases of child sex abuse, so its very puzzling.
“These are searches based on some allegations made to the Brussels prosecutor denouncing sexual abuse of minors by certain people in the Church,” a spokesman for the prosecutor’s office, Jean-Marc Meilleur, said.

I just heard this on the radio.
The radio report is saying police are bring ‘‘tight lipped’’.
So in the absence of any definitive statements, caution is required as a lot of what comes out could be nothing but speculation.
This mornings Guardian newspaper is suggesting there is a state of panic among victims who’s files were removed, as they feel their confidentiality has been compromised.
