Poland’s Catholic primate said Francis understands ‘pastoral realities’
Poland’s Catholic primate said Pope Francis has not broken from the teachings of St John Paul II and that the Latin American pontiff understands “pastoral realities” as he reshapes the Church’s evangelical outreach.
In light of the Pope’s efforts, the Polish bishops have a duty to recall Christian values often forgotten by the rest of the Church, and to “adjust” the teachings of Pope Francis to fit their own pastoral programs, Archbishop Wojciech Polak of Gniezno told Catholic News Service (CNS).

I really don’t “get” the purpose of articles like this and the implied messages of the headline.

The headlines sounds like a back handed slap, almost like one that would appear saying “Obama does not beat his wife”. Who said Obama did that in the first place? (BTW, this is made up!) But I see it the same way – who said the Pope broke away with St. John Paul’s teachings in the first place?

If the article was to reassure the faithful, I think most of the faithful have no questions about Pope Francis’ loyalty to Church teaching. For the minority who don’t, there’s nothing Francis can say or do to change their mind.

If the polish priests are having a problem with Francis, that’s says more about them than about Pope Francis.

Coach - you are quite right about this being an issue inside the Polish church. Some of the clergy there oppose the pope when it comes to his teaching on austerity. The boys don’t want to be told that they are too materialistic. They want to retain their privilege and influence in society.

Since the faithful in Poland hold JPII in great admiration, the bishop is trying to remind them that Francis and JPII are on the same page, so to speak.

Merry Christmas!!

As a Polish Catholic with family in Poland, the article clearly stated why the Archbishop felt compelled to speak. Poland has seen a rise in secularism and a drop in Church attendance, but it also must respond to any accusations in a prudent way as well as to clarify things.

And Poland is not your average Western country either. After decades of Soviet occupation, it is now dealing with wrong Western values that are voiced and portrayed by the media, polluting the culture. I was there in 1966 for 1,000 years of Christianity in Poland at a special event in Detroit.

Newsfllash! / Saint John Paul the Great never claimed that his pontificate was any greater than any other pope who had preceded it. It is the function of those with vigilance to observe the diabolical phenomena when we see this petty, worldly, and contrived “schism” that some are intent on creating between two holy souls who have been tasked by the Creator to fulfill His Divine will.

The Lord endowed sanctity on both of these men, who were appointed by Him in these strange, foreboding times. They are “Brothers of Fate and Destiny”. When human frailty seeks to separate these two faithful servants of Christ, only the Satanic plan benefits.

Merry Christmas to ALL. His birth led to the singular death that freed us all. Therefore, celebrate with gusto!!!

Another article with an inflammatory headline that creates it’s own controversy.

Wow! there must be a real war in Poland between the Pope and the saint.
