Rome, Italy, Mar 19, 2009 / 12:28 pm (CNA).- Pope John Paul II could be beatified on April 2, 2010, exactly five years after his death, according to a report in the Polish newspaper Dziennik, which claims the Congregation for the Causes of the Saints has already made the decision. http://feeds2.feedburner.com/~r/catholicnewsagency/dailynews/~4/AwWoBfFTz3c

This sounds like a delay. There was news somewhere, but I can’t remember where, that the beatification could happen this spring, 2009 either on the anniversary of his death or the anniversary of his assasination attempt.

If I find the article, I’ll post the link.

JR 🙂

I so hope that this is true and will happen without delay next year because then I could take Pope John Paul II as my patron saint for confirmation!

unless you are several years from confirmation you’re jumping the gun. beatification doesn’t make someone a saint, cannization does, and that would be several yars after this before it could happen.

True, but beatification is sufficient for choosing someone as confirmation “saint”.

well i didnt know that. its been years since i was confirmed and my patron had been a saint for around a millineum so it wasnt really an issue.
