Polish priest raising world's largest Jesus statue

I haven’t read this anywhere, but according to my pastor, there is supposedly a movement in Poland to make Christ the King of the country.

Really shouldn’t surprise anyone though. Amongst other reasons, many, if not most, of Polish-speaking people are Catholic.

Hmm… that doesn’t seem consistent with His “My kingdom is not of this world” statement. :confused:

Perhaps some of the Priest’s dismay originates in this project evolving from an attempt to glorify Jesus to a money making enterprise and novelty.
 
It would be something if we had a huge Jesus statue somewhere in the states (or do we have one already?). For example 150 foot statue overlooking San Fran Bay???

Brazil has one, now Poland, how bout U.S.

In the mid to late 50’s, the Catholics of Corpus Christi (Body of Christi), TX proposed building a very large statue of Christ in the bay or harbor. The Baptist wouldn’t hear of it and even proposed a change of the City name to “City of Nueces” after the county name. Can you imagine…

“Body of Christ” to City of Nuts (Nueces)"😃

I had to giggle at the last two words of that original link “giant Jesus”.

I wonder, what would Jesus honestly think if he saw these statues…:rolleyes:

We used to have one loving referred to as “Touchdown Jesus” but it was struck by lightning and burned to the ground a few months ago.
 
Jesus’ face on the statue is appropriate, Europe is a faithless squalor hole with Luke-warm Catholics and militant liberals.
