Parents hate it when their children think for themselves instead of reproducing their beliefs.
Not necessarily. I know my parents would be upset if I rejected the faith outright. But I have very different views from my parents on things like proper liturgy and church music etc. Also on other issues, immigration, how we should help refugees etc.

In my experience it’s completely normal for parents and children to be at loggerheads on at least some issues.

Maybe this is amplified when parents and children don’t share the same faith.
To address the OP’s original issue: I do think children who have parents who are not in the faith or hold incorrect beliefs should do their best to convince their parents of the truth in a respectful manner. I also think there’s nothing wrong with having the odd argument about politics/religion etc.
