Why is it that some on these forums assume that the democratic party is more in line with the church’s social teachings? The only way that could be true is if the democratic leadership spoke out in support of the 5 non-negotiables. Since the current leadership is FOR every one of these, than because they supposedly support the poor they are somehow the church preferred party?
And, why is it that so many on these forums think that the Republican party is not in line with the social teachings? Is it because they speak about personal responsibility and less government intrusion? Is it becuase they favor laws that help promote private charity over government handouts?
Having said all of that, neither party is what it used to be. My family have been life long republicans, but we are extremely disatisfied with the GOP, and if they offer up a pro-abort candidate then no one in my family will vote for him.
But don’t kid yourselves, the democratic party is not the party of the common man. They don’t care about the poor any more than Soviet Russia cared about it’s poor. They view the poor as a way to keep their power base. Keep promising people the world and they’ll vote for you, even if you can’t deliver.
Both of the parties are corrupt and globalist in thinking. Niether care about the average american.
PS. I won’t toot the republican’s horn, but I know lot’s of conservative rep. women who spend all of there free time doing one form of charity work or another. They volunteer at homeless shelters, schools, hospitals, churches, pregnancy crisis centers, etc. So don’t think that democrats have cornered the market on charity and love for your neighbor
