Care to explain why?
You are making an all-or-nothing argument, which excludes (without reason) all of the possibilities in between. You must argue (with reason) why the other conditions are not possible.

Jesus commits a logical fallacy when he states, “He who is not for me is against me.” It is rhetorically memorable–and effective in ways–but it is an errant logical claim.

Slippery-slope is a logical fallacy, too. You will find it on that list you sent me.

]Yes they do. Real families, anyway.
No, they don’t. Some families have two heterosexual parents. Some have two grandparents – my son’s friend was abandoned by his heterosexual (!) parents in a parking lot at age two, and has been raised since then by his grandparents. Some families have one parent, or two male or two female parents.
The Golden Rule doesn’t mean we have to tolerate any and all behavior, otherwise, why do we have the Ten Commandments or civil laws?
Certainly.
If you support what is now described in euphemistic terms as “the blessing of same-sex unions,” in practice you are supporting the abolition of the entire Christian sexual ethic, and its substitution with an unrestricted, laissez faire, free sexual market.
That’s fallacious logic. In any case, I have not argued for the blessing of same sex unions. I have only argued that the state should get out of the business of blessing marriages, and grant civil unions instead.
The reason that the homosexual rights movement has managed to pick up such a large contingent of heterosexual fellow-travelers is simple: Because once that taboo is abrogated, no taboos are left.
Hogwash. The reason is that many heterosexuals – including myself – know enough LGBT people in real life that we have come to understand that they are persons, not monsters to be demonized as you would do.

They must’ve polled only the Bay Area and L.A. because this entire area, the Central Valley of California is STAUNCHLY against gay marriage! Trust me! Catholics around here are adamantly opposed, as they should be. For that matter, everyone here is opposed to it regardless of denom!
The Central Valley might as well be Kansas – they reject evolution, global warming, and other aspects of modern science.

What’s wrong with rejecting parts of modern science? A detailed list of outcomes would be apprecisted.

Thanks,
Ed

It might as well be Dover. Have you been to Fresno or Bakersfield?
No, but I was in SF last week! I had a blast, and I am happily and steadfastly hetero! And one of the places I had a lot of good clean fun was the Castro district. I was pleasantly surprised by how many “traditional” families were shopping together at the little markets, visiting the bookstore, etc. A warm, welcoming, and quite hetero place compared to what descriptions of it are like from the homo-concerned…

The burden of proof is not on the status quo to justify itself; it’s on the advocate of change.

Hey, one of these is near my town! Are these heteros practicing “commitment”?
Wow – I counted over thirty swinger sex clubs in the God-fearing, safely heterosexual, family oriented Central Valley of California (including five in Bakersfield). It’s a good thing the Old Testament isn’t opposed to heterosexual swingers clubs; some of these may be family-oriented swinger clubs.

I counted only a handful in San Francisco – those lazy gay people who can’t get their acts together

The Catholic parish in the Castro District is a vibrant place as well, Most Holy Redeemer.

Gee, Maine only has three total, in 35,000 square miles!

What is the density of churches in those towns? Is there a correlation?

San Fran isn’t the only location for weirdos in our state. Long Beach, CA has more gays per capita than S.F. and Los Angeles is rampant with homosexuals. The teen pregnancy rate is #1 in the nation here in the San Joaquin Valley where I live, actually in Tulare County to be more precise. There is horrific crime per capita in Fresno as well. There’s plenty of jacked-up stuff going on in CA outside of SF. Everyone blasts San Francisco all the time but they’re not all bad and not the only ones.

I have to support my Giants, too! :p:cool:
