(sigh)Isn’t that the black supremacy church that said “GD America” instead of God Bless America", and that Obama had to deny going there during his campaign days?

Well I don’t really think that the Republican party is evil, I just don’t think they care about people that are lower-lower middle class. Republicans care about the rich and want to limit government benefits for the poor. Sounds like the opposite of what Jesus preached, but maybe that is just me.Painting either party as evil and being disgusted by all that goes on in either party is not at all helpful for getting real discussion and action going to fix our problems, it just breeds division.
Not all Christians share your dislike for abortion, gay marriage, and birth control. Also, Romney is a Mormon. It is sad that we currently live in a culture in which condoning the murder of innocent babies can be considered as one issue among many. I can see how one can overlook his support for gay marriage, even then it’s kinda tough to support him, but there is no way I could ever support an openly pro-choice candidate.
Not that I would support him even if he wasn’t pro-choice since the economy has only gotten worse since he’s gotten in office.
I highly doubt that Romney is not Christian, but even if he wasn’t, Obama isn’t much of a Christian either. He supports gay marriage, abortion, and having birth control covered under his healthcare plan. If Obama is Christian, he’s certainly not letting that influence any of his presidential decisions.
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ Matthew 7: 21-23
There’s only one correct answer to the question of what it means to be Christian. Some things are up for interpretation, discussion, etc…other things are not. Supporting abortion either directly, or indirectly by voting for someone who directly supports it, is not doing the will of the Father.
So what should Obama do about that? Make a law that makes gas 2 dollars a gallon?I usually stay out of these types of discussions, but I would like to ask the Obama supporters a question.
How has he helped the poor? We are poor. The only thing he has done is force the poor to be government dependent. The cost of gasoline is almost $4 a gallon which forces the price of food to go up, among other things. Our life has become much harder since he became president.
I’m not trying to be argumentative either, but I don’t think that cutting taxes on the richest people in America while slashing government programs that help the poor is going to solve our nation’s debt.I just wanted to throw this thought out there as well.
Honestly, one of the reasons I will not vote for obama is because I care about the welfare of the poor. The govt. cannot continue to help the poor if it goes bankrupt. The path it is currently on is just getting us further in debt. If you really want to help the poor I think it is really important to think not just in terms of short-term help, but trying to find sustainable means of helping those in need. Bankrupting the country in the name of helping the poor and needy is not the way to go. Solving our nations debt, or at the very least containing it, should be one of the highest priorities of those who wish to help the poor and needy in our country.
Again, I’m not throwing this out there to be argumentative, its just something that I think often gets overlooked.![]()
No its not. There are plenty of poor people that vote against their own benefit because of social issues.Money is everyone’s bottom line - right, left and center.
i have to ask why would one post a link too this garbage?Nominal Christianity is as nominal Christianity does. As a black separatist Christian, Rev. Jeremiah Wright contravenes the notion of equality: salvation for Jew and Gentile, slave and free, male and female. Equality must be upheld for all, like rallying to find the slayer of Donald Young, choir director of Rev. Wright’s church, and long-time friend of Barack Obama. Larry Sinclair, an associate of Barack Obama, suggests the answer as to why the indifference to the shooting of Young on the part his church and the Chicago police.

Perhaps an energy policy that actually lets company provide cheap energy NOW?So what should Obama do about that? Make a law that makes gas 2 dollars a gallon?
So what would that energy policy be? Rampant drilling? What are you proposing?Perhaps an energy policy that actually lets company provide cheap energy NOW?
Matt, have you considered that there hasn’t been a “growing emphasis of Republican issues”, rather, others have moved away from, or even ignored key teachings of the Church? The OP invited me to his thread. I didn’t vote since I don’t meet the criteria of being a Catholic. But I am voting for Obama for many reasons. Other social justice issues being among the primary. As far as being upset, I know for myself the Catholic Church’s seemingly growing emphasis of Republican issues over the yrs has turned me off. Just this yr alone I look at the negative reaction Catholic Sister Simone and the nuns on the bus against the Ryan budget have received in some conservative Catholic circles and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. When I watched Sister Simone speak at the Democratic Party Convention, I OTOH actually stood in my living room and applauded.
Let us drill for oil here for starters. So what should Obama do about that? Make a law that makes gas 2 dollars a gallon?
Well, approving instead of punting on the Keystone Pipeline would be a great, and not funnelling money to crony capitalist “green energy” firms would be a great start. So what would that energy policy be? Rampant drilling? What are you proposing?
It’s my faith too that not everyone wiIl enter. Christ said as much in Matt 25. And I agree it may be your faith belief that voting for someone who supports choice is not doing the will of the Father and then apparently not enter His kingdom. But other non Catholic Christians have a different faith belief.“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ Matthew 7: 21-23

From what I have read on this board, most people would say “Well they are wrong and it is their fault for not knowing the truth that is the Catholic Church.”It’s my faith too that not everyone wiIl enter. Christ said as much in Matt 25. And I agree it may be your faith belief that voting for someone who supports choice is not doing the will of the Father and then apparently not enter His kingdom. Well it might if you want to crush the poor and middle class in the process with as many cuts in programs it would take without raising taxes on the rich.I’m not trying to be argumentative either, but I don’t think that cutting taxes on the richest people in America while slashing government programs that help the poor is going to solve our nation’s debt.
I’ve considered it but with respect to abortion, Roe occurred 40 yrs ago this coming January and I’ve noticed the emphasis growing towards Republican policies more recently than 40 yrs ago.Matt, have you considered that there hasn’t been a “growing emphasis of Republican issues”, rather, others have moved away from, or even ignored key teachings of the Church?
I don’t find fault with Sister Simone’s criticism of the Ryan budget, but her omissive punt of the abortion issue when directly asked is a little troublesome to many.
