Fox News has the most trusted network and cable news coverage in the United States, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll released Monday. But network TV is much less trustworthy than it was in the days of Walter Cronkite, American voters say. In comparison rankings, 29 percent responded that they trust Fox News the most. CNN follows with 22 percent, CBS News and NBC News are at 10 percent, ABC News at 8 percent and MSNBC at 7 percent.

Comparing today’s programming with the heyday of network news, only 7 percent of those surveyed think the information presented now is more trustworthy, with 48 percent responding that it is less so and 35 percent answering that it is about the same.

Among Republican voters, 58 percent say they trust Fox News the most, with 13 percent favoring CNN, 7 percent for NBC and CBS, 5 percent for ABC and 2 percent for MSNBC.
With Democrats, CNN is the top choice with 32 percent, 15 percent for NBC, 14 percent for CBS and MSNBC, and 8 percent for ABC. Only 3 percent trust Fox News most.

For those who bewail partisanship, “objectivity” was sort of a passing phase. Newspapers were always political from the founding of the Republic and much more vicious than any news outlet these days.
There were greater efforts to be objective with newsreels, radio and later, TV.

For me, I still consider The Onion “America’s finest news source.”
 
Honestly, I really dislike pretty much all television news.

Print news is pretty bad too, but I think there’s something about the visual medium that just brings out the worst in news reporting and “analysis.” I hate when I’m sitting in a waiting room and someone has any news network on - always too loud. I think if they changed the channel (or turned the darn thing off!) people would be much more pleasant about having to wait. 😛

I grew up with Fox News on all the time and all I can remember is lots of angry people shouting. I guess that’s most of the other networks too, but it did turn me off them pretty much completely. It could have just been the programs that my dad watched.
 
Other than EWTN, Fox News is the only channel not clueless about why several hundred thousand people show up in DC in January when it’s NOT a presidential inauguration year…
 
I’ve pretty much given up on domestic press. I go to the BBC to find out what’s going on internationally and Catholic sources for church related issues. While our press is harping on the Confederate flag for a week BBC tells me what is happening on the rest of the planet.
 
I do not watch Fox News exclusively, nor anyone news channel. But I am curious about one thing.

What gives Fox the exclusive rights to choose the Republican nominee for POUSA? By choosing who does and doesn’t debate?

I don’t trust Fox that much.
 
They are ALL owned and operated by 6 corporations, they are literally controlling what is news and what is not, if you really want to be shocked, read up about ‘blacked out topics’, specifically an event with Nike, the Olympics, a certain brand of coats, and network sponsors! black out topics are things they are NOT ALLOWED to report on… LOL, this is supposed to be NEWS, and they have topics in which they are not allowed to talk about??? That is SCARY!

Given enough time, they could influence a large group of citizens opinions on topics as well.

I like the alternative news much more, they do not have any topics that are off limits, if its news, its reported and the reader makes their own minds up about it, not let the network/ owner do that for them.
 
FOX is my number one choice. Try watching the others and can’t stand them.
 
RT and Sputnik for me, but of the major American networks, FOX is probably the best, though that’s not saying alot.
 
OAN, One America News or something, they are very good but are not widespread yet. Newsmax is passable.
 
BBC, NPR, and CNN. Fox News? Not if it were the last news network on the air.
 
It’s all bad.

BBC got too Liberal for me; and their coverage of the Catholic Church is atrocious.

I switched to Deutsche Welle News on PBS’s World Channel for a European perspective (the only thing I don’t like about it is the soccer news and there is a Liberal social bias though a little less bad than BBC) and CBC News (Canadian) for North American news, with a bit of CNN for International news which is about all CNN does and does it well.

I can’t say there is anything like a standard News program on any of the Cable Networks, which covers national, international, business and economy, sports and entertainment in an hour or 30 minute program format; just endless repetition of a handful of the same news stories over and over and over with the same commercials sandwiched between.
 
BBC, overly politically correct, has had problems stating who terrorists are and things like that, accused of being anti-Israel. biasedbbc.org/

NPR, Government funded radio, slanted. Miniscule ratings, some good news reporting.

CNN, Fox generally has more viewers than MSNBC and CNN put together.

Some of these news outlets, say, have problems reporting on the Planned Parenthood scandal and the like, Dr. Gosnell before. These news agencies are not trustworthy.
