Poll: Fox News most trusted network

If you go beyond the Politico article and read the Quinnipiac University website itself, you will see that the story is more nuanced than Politico’s analysis. In particular, if you combine the responses for “a great deal” and “somewhat”, you will see that ABC, NBC, CBS, and CNN all beat Fox News, even though Fox wins in the “a great deal” category. This shows that opinions on Fox News are more polarized than opinions on the other sources. It does not show an overall higher level of trust for Fox.

Its amazing NO ONE has managed to put out a truly neutral, non-biased news outlet…thats what most people want…yet there are none?? This would be a HUGE success, dont understand why someone has not started one.

I think people say they want this but i think most people like hearing their own opinion argued for.

It could be a huge success but knowing the newspaper/news feed market well, the owner better have a staff of fact checkers and lawyers on retainer. News sources like the Associated Press or Reuters need to be considered. It would also be a target for the 6 multinationals that do control most of the news outlets.

It can be done but it would require a reliable network of reporters that would verify stories not covered by the other, major outlets. One needs to be careful on the legal front. Looking into the newspaper / news feed rules and legal concerns would need to be done first. Finally, if professionals are chosen, generating advertising revenue would be required so they are paid fairly for their work, and to keep the site running.

IF Fox news is more conservative than the mainstream media, and if it is voted ‘more trusted’ by a representative sample of American viewers, doesn’t that just mean that A. American tend to be conservative politically and B. people tend to reaffirm views similar to the ones they already hold? In other words, isn’t this just evidence of confirmation bias? People with a liberal bias no doubt trust the New York Times, because it tells them what they want to hear.

Of course, different sources have biases, while others simply provide information directed at a specific type of readership. I knew a person who liked telling different people what he thought they wanted to hear. He was eventually caught and fired from his job. Facts require fact checking. Did an event actually happen? Was it described accurately? Were the sources named and their positions identified? “VP of XYZ LLC Confirms Reports of Mismanagement.” A story can have unnecessary opinion added to it that is separate from the facts reported.

Such Opinions should appear in the Editorial Section or Opinion Page. That way, readers can learn facts minus the bias. If they want a particular bias, they can go to the Editorial or Opinion page to get that.

For many years, depending on where you lived, telephone surveys to get your opinion were common. Today, I would decline to answer, or, depending on the question, asked to be removed from their calling list.

I do not watch Fox News exclusively, nor anyone news channel. But I am curious about one thing.

I don’t trust Fox that much.

Each network gets to choose how they will run a debate. Other networks will have the same option when their turn comes. And BTW, Fox is having all the GOP candidates in a debate, the top ten in one and the others in another–all on the same night.

Fox must be too fair for your liking.

I think the joke are the networks that devoted no time to covering Kermit Gosnell and probably are not covering the Planned Parenthood scandal. I know I as a Catholic “to the core” find that bothers me and I see it on the news. Good thing Fox covers this. Those other channels sound like what you are describing.

Because Adawgj; as a Catholic I believe in the right to life.

If CNN devoting 15 seconds to some scandal like a post-abortion doctor Gosnell, is one’s idea of good news, I totally respect such opinions.

My issue with Fox News is there claim of being “most trusted network”, and having a conservative bias. (Note: I don’t support MSNBC for their Liberal bias)

They do cover many stories other news sources miss.

But, how can Fox still have Bill O’ Reilly on when he lied about his Falkland war coverage.

Yet MSNBC (whom I don’t support) fires Brian Williams for his lying Iraq war coverage.

There seems to be a lack of credibility on that one.

Of their announcers and commentators, Father Morris, Hannity, O’Reilly, off the top are all Catholic, oh, and Neil Cavuto too, who I believe goes to daily Mass, well known for it. I believe he always gets around in a wheelchair. Then, to this number, add in, Justice Jeannine and Judge Napolitano. It’s baffling that a Catholic would make insulting remarks about Fox without some back up.

Of course EWTN would cover the Pope’s trip it’s a Catholic news channel.

It would make sense that Fox would have it on because a huge majority of their news people are Catholics. I have nothing wrong with that.

My issue is Fox is a conservative bias media outlet. I do not like biased media regardless of political spectrum. I turn on the news for news not political pundits who talk about current events.
