So you agree that speaking in tongues in a mass, or in a large group-church setting is against St. Pauls rules?properly and in order is goodI once saw a video of a charismatic service that was VERY chaotic⦠and it made me really uncomfortable. But the healing Mass I went to was very orderly and people did only speak one at a time, and for parts of it there was an interpreter!
thereās also a part in Corinthians I believe where St Paul says that when people speak in tongues, no one can understand them because theyāre speaking mysteries to God⦠or something like this⦠so people take that to mean that itās alright to use it as a prayer language too. The rules he gave above are for using it in church, with others present. But if itās just you, of course that doesnāt apply. (speaking one at a time, etc)
tongues= languageItās speaking in unknown languagesā¦itās a gift of the Holy Spirit
jibberish=jibberish (or maybe possibily the language of another spirit, no way to discern-herein lies the problem)
The debate isnt over wether or not people should āspeak in tonguesā, the debate is wether speaking in tongues is someone truly blessed by God with a gift to speak a language they otherwise would have no ability to speak or understand, or- if jibberish is considered authentic āspeaking in tonguesā.
Keep in mind the Churches teachings on ābabblingsā.
