Me neither, I can’t remember the mysteries after a decade , so holding a rosary, praying and reading a booklet is quit difficult. I bought a scriptural rosary cd for my car to listen to, to try to remember. Divine mercy 1 is easy to remember, still never really felt the actual need to hold a rosary in my hand, I guess because I am a convert to Catholic so prayer with my fingers is more natural to me?? If I were in a large group or small group and got to kneel and close my eyes while someone called out the mysteries as we say the hail marys, it would be better for me to attend a service like that! Due to memory failure on all the decades mystery descriptions. Like on EWTN!! But I like the scriptural rosary much better because after every hail Mary there is a quote from scripture to really have a detailed view of the decades which also helps with memory on what the decade is about. Lol

Neither do I, but I do it just the same no matter how poorly I say it. No matter how tired I am.

You can pray the rosary anywhere and at anytime. You don’t need to be holding a rosary in your hand. You can say it while driving or walking through a store or cleaning your apartment/home. You can say it when you are taking a walking or getting dressed or taking a shower.

I say one rosary per day as I’m doing a 54 day novena. Otherwise, I’m kind of streaky with praying the rosary and usually say a decade or two.

One rosary takes me around 35-40 minutes to pray. I say opening and ending prayers in addition to Hail Holy Queen and final prayer. I also reflect on a scene for each Hail Mary and say prayers and read commentary after each decade.

I find this kind of poll to be peculiar because it almost emphasis quantity over quality. Ever since I read a quote by Archbishop Fulton Sheen about the rosary, I wanted to learn how to immerse in the mysteries of the rosary.
The rosary is the book of the blind, where souls see and there enact the greatest drama of love the world has ever known; it is the book of the simple, which initiates them into mysteries and knowledge more satisfying than the education of other men; it is the book of the aged, whose eyes close upon the shadow of this world, and open on the substance of the next. The power of the rosary is beyond description.” ~Archbishop Fulton Sheen
In the past I just found myself rambling and saying the rosary for the sake of getting it done. Praying in this manner I could say one 15-20 minutes but I felt like I was not immersing myself. I personally find entering a deep meditative and reflective state to be more effective in praying the rosary.

Some people manage to say a few decades in a day and not the whole rosary. I’ve never in my life heard of anyone saying 4 rosaries is a day. I would imagine if someone had the time to pray that much, they wouldn’t be here on CAF to submit a vote.
I did once, I was having a bad time and I prayed it walking home from work, it doesn’t take so long for me to walk home from work but I took a longer route.

I’ve never done it since but maybe one day.

I’ve done that as well, both when driving and biking to work.

But if you manage to sit down quietly somewhere, and take your time and meditate on the mysteries. It takes on a whole new light. It really is such a powerful prayer.

I heard a priest on Sensus Fidelium (so a trad) who appeared to make out five a day is sufficient.

True but I’m finding it more difficult to meditate on the mysteries the more I meditate on them over and over.

St. Therese had a hard time praying the rosary too.

The more stress you put on yourself, the harder it will be. Just pray it and don’t obsess about it. Ask Our Lady and St. Therese to help you.

There are many rosary meditation booklets that are available. One, or a few, of these might help you.

Just don’t stop praying the rosary. Even if you find you can’t meditate, or the idea of praying the rosary is abhorrent to you, pray it in spite of how you feel. Feelings don’t matter in the spiritual life, only the will.

St Padre Pio prayed the Rosary all day
The late Father Andrew Apostoli told a story about a man, feeling very good about his prayer life, telling Padre Pio that he had prayed 5 Rosaries on that particular day. The good Padre replied, “that’s very good. I’ve prayed about 35 Rosaries”. The incredulous man said, “But you’ve been busy all day, where have you found the time to pray 35 Rosaries?”

“Well, you do one thing at a time, I do five or six things at a time”. was Padre Pio’s response.

Well, he is shown in photographs with a rosary twined in his fingers, but talking to someone at the same time. I find it difficult to call that saying the rosary if he didn’t give his attention to it (or alternatively, he didn’t pay attention to the person who was talking to him).

I try to pray the rosary (5 decades) daily. I must admity my mind keeps me from complete concentration. I repeat many decades constantly. Does anyone have the same problem?
