We are on the same team, Singing it is just that for Catholics truth leading to unity is very important. Especially since Jesus himself prayed for it.
You are right though we shouldn’t be negative, I see very little of it on this board. I encourage you to point it out as sometimes Catholics do go a little overboard, we all as Christians do get a lot of flak for our beliefs.
I have said before though that many non-denominatinal Christians will be primarily focused on external appearances. Judge not from appearances but from the truth. Seek the truth and open your heart for it.
What kept me from investigating even a closer relationship to Jesus, was the Christians I knew. This was even before coming back to the Church I was more comfortable with my life not committing to anything. This is common from our own bickering between the divisions in Christianity. I have problems trying to spread the gospel just because of the divisions in Christianity, it is a scandal. Just look what Muslims think about Christians.
