Yes! I was hoping…

Perpetrating child abuse and calling it a religion is so disgusting. As an Arizona resident, both our state and Utah should be ashamed of themselves for letting this go on for so long. It was only when they could prove that the FLDS was fleecing the state through the school district up there and the welfare payments that they started actually caring about what happens to the poor people up there trapped under these sick “prophets.”

I was waiting for the jury to come back…wonder what kind of sentence he’ll receive…?

I glad he was convicted of something. From the reports I’ve heard he seems to be an odious man.

But I wonder about the strength of an accessory to rape conviction when the “rapist” himself, the husband, hasn’t been accused of anything. He even testified for the defense.

Wouldn’t you have to prove a rape happened first? Or is it just a matter of the woman involved not pressing charges?

It also makes me wonder about states where it is possible to marry with parental consent at an age lower than the age of consent. Since the child involved couldn’t legally give consent and the parents can, could they then be accused of being accessories too?

The rapist hasn’t been charged “yet”. It’s possible that he will be. At least that’s the report I heard yesterday.
