Anyone could spit out such “poetry” about another country and its perceived ills relative to the rest of the world. Ooooh, deep stuff Brian. Doesn’t make it any more meaningful or poignant.

Because that’s we successfully banned alcohol and drugs nation-wide.

Handguns are for up close and personal. And they also have a problem with rapid reloading.
I don’t think you are making the points you intended.

Most mass shootings are “up close and personal” The Vegas shooter was an exception.

Google “speed loaders” for revolvers.
12 shots in 3 seconds

I know, shocking. Topics about discussions of absolute morality as defined by the Catechism on a Catholic website
Not shocking at all. The suggestion that posters on a Catholic website should not consider what other people do for fun is ridiculous; which was, of course, precisely the point I was making.

I guess we can believe leftists and Democrats that they want to save lives by taking our property away from us. I mean, I might believe it if their enlightened wisdom actually went to helping the people and cleaning up the cities of Baltimore, San Francisco to San Diego, Chicago, St. Louis, Detroit, yadda yadda yadda. When you know…PROOF… of their policies work, then may…just maybe, I’ll believe them… but probably won’t anyway.

JonNC:
Not much of a counter argument.
There is no reason to counter such absurdity.

That is a matter of interpretation.
The Court interpreted it.
One can do one and not the other.
With firearms it would be both.
Neither do the overwhelming majority of cars cause a problem.
That’s an argument for reducing regulations on cars.
Nor is totally unrestricted use of guns an enumerated right. The courts have allowed many regulations.
Never said they didn’t.

Wow! Scary. I never heard about this. Excellent argument against revolvers.

What kind of people are you? Being obsessed with killing? Making firearms even more efficient… ? One thing is certain. The words of Jesus are out of the window. No more “turn the other cheek”. No more “if you live by the sword, you will die by the sword”.

The argument for “target practice” is valid. It is just a sport. But the weapons need only one bullet and reload. The argument for “hunting” is also valid. But to use semi-automatic weapons makes it a butchery, not hunting. Use a bow and arrow to make it a sport. Then comes self-protection. You don’t need a semi-automatic weapon for that. That is all for the valid reasons.

The excuse to protect against the government going berserk is laughable. Your weapons against tanks? What do you wish for? Bazookas in every household - just in case? This obsession with ever more guns with ever more destructive power is bordering on insanity. Give weapons to teachers? Arm the priests? Fight fire by throwing oil on it???

On the other hand the propositions to have sensible gun control are rejected. Treat guns as dangerous objects against society. Create a database to track them. Make them only obtainable by permit and license. Make the license renewable every “n” years and only after passing a test. Unlicensed sale or transfer should be a very serious crime, punished by lengthy jail sentence. Educate kids and show them the horrible results of the school shootings. Let them see the corpses of those kids who could have been their classmates. Yes, it will be a shock. That is point. Expose guns as a scourge, not a glorious object which tamed the Wild West. Don’t make Liberty Valance a “hero”. You call it “brainwashing”? I call it “education”.

But all this will be rejected. And next time when a murder will happen - and it does NOT need to be a mass murder - just repeat the mantra of “our thoughts and prayers”, as if it would help the families.

I’m not aware of any mass shootings by 10 year old girls using five shot magazine .22 rifles.

I am not aware of a 10 years old girl driving a car into a crowd of her classmates either. Is that a good argument to allow 10 years old girls drive a car, even if it would be painted PINK???
Nope. Most 10 year old girls couldn’t reach the pedals, for one thing, or see over the steering wheel.

But if one is wanting to ban something, one ought to have a better reason for doing it than simply that one doesn’t like it.

Nope. If it were still functional, that would matter. But, IIRC, the little girl has a 10 shot magazine.

I wouldn’t support restrictions on magazines, in that range.

There are no Democrats who help people?

There are no Democrats who volunteer to beautify their communities?

Just one example, the Mayor of St Louis is a Democrat

I’m not aware of any mass killings by ten year old girls with ten magazine .22 rifles either. 🙂
