It makes you wonder, though, whether God has called the appropriate people to work the field, so to speak. King David was a monumental representation of a seemingly judicious pick until things went terribly, but terribly awry. I never understood how a perfect and flawless God could even allow David to continue living with the woman he disgraced himself for/with. Fast forward, perhaps God’s poor judgment is made manifest in the deplorable state today’s Church is in.Makes you wonder how much more is hidden in the depths of the Vatican!

Excuse me, God’s poor judgement? Wheat and weeds grow together in the kingdom of God. Even investigating the lives of Saints, it is the last couple of decades or so that make the most difference, as we must grow on toward holiness, “pressing on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:14). We all must make a choice daily…we were saved, we are being saved, we hope to endure to the end and be saved.It makes you wonder, though, whether God has called the appropriate people to work the field, so to speak. As for the “deplorable state of the Church”, the blood of martyrs even now is watering the seeds of the new evangelization. Many of our youth are more passionate and loyal to the truth than ever. Converts and Reverts are finding our way home, bringing others with us.
Read Scott Hahn’s Evangelizing Catholics. If you think the Church is in deplorable shape, you certainly don’t have to leave her there.

While the snippet posted makes it sound like the Cardinal resigned due to the sex abuse scandal, the article also mentions that he turned 75. All bishops submit their resignations when they turn 75. This doesn’t exactly seem earth-shaking.
