Well, we have GOD on our side. I wonder who she figures she has on her side that can ultimately win? When you view the entire situation, I really see this as definitive and purposeful move to take the Church down a peg or two. Upon watching some of the walk for life coverage on EWTN today, one of the Congressmen that spoke said that Kathleen Sybilius has publically said in reference to this situation…“We are at war”. Hmm…with whom are they at war with? I think maybe that would be us!![]()
Funny you should bring this point up…I just 5 minutes ago heard this same comment again this time on my local Catholic radio station. But, that said, I have not yet seen this in print and if so, I will start another thread on it, as I think it might be too far off the subject of this one. But yes, she must have something to the effect or I wouldn’t have heard it from 2 different sources.Anyone have a source for the “We are at war” comment?

WOW! Great article! I added your website to my favorites. Thanks, I used that info. to locate a more complete quote, that I used in my latest blog article on this HHS issue.![]()
Thanks! And thanks again for helping!WOW! Great article! I added your website to my favorites.I do believe this situation to be the most serious violation of religious liberty that we have faced in recent times. If the administration has the guts to try and pull this, I am convinced they will do anything to reach their objective.

When you see someone attempting suicide, you don’t have to commit suicide, so you shrug and go on your way. You disregard that that person is in turmoil and needs help. Let the Samaritan help him.Widespread use of birth control is not going to be turned back. That battle was lost long ago. However, there is no legal compulsion to use it. Abortion is an individual choice. Catholics don’t have to, and often should not, go along with immoral practices just because others are. I think the concern is overblown.
If it’s not a big deal, the fed should just give in then, right?Widespread use of birth control is not going to be turned back. That battle was lost long ago. Evil can certainly be worked for good, and as Scripture says, just as a woman travails in labor, she has much joy on the other side. I do think the Bishops have improved quite a bit in the last 10 years or so. The abuse scandals may also have resulted in purging of sorts.I have been chewing on something for a day or so and wondering if there might be a small rainbow at the end of the storm…someone tell me how far off I might be,but could this situation be a catalyst to put a fire under our Bishops that has not fully been there in the past? When I heard that even prominent Catholics that are not exactly orthodox are upset about the HHS ruling, I began to wonder: could this oppressive ruling be somewhat of a unifier in the Church that has been so divided?
Yep, they have. But this I believe is something that might REALLY start the engine.Evil can certainly be worked for good, and as Scripture says, just as a woman travails in labor, she has much joy on the other side. Yes! Yes! Yes! He’s got it. They’re trying to reduce our freedom of religion to freedom of worship! And so many of us are falling for it.The Pontiff noted concerns about the right of conscientious objection on the part of Catholic individuals and institutions with regard to cooperation in intrinsically evil practices; and a** tendency to reduce religious freedom to mere freedom of worship without guarantees of respect for freedom of conscience.**
This is why Catholic Answers Forum is so great. We can all get the facts and practice being articulate on this issue, what the Pope has called us to do for our faith.“Here once more we see the need for an engaged, articulate and well-formed Catholic laity endowed with a strong critical sense vis-à-vis the dominant culture and with the courage to counter a reductive secularism which would delegitimize the Church’s participation in public debate about the issues which are determining the future of American society,” he said. “The preparation of committed lay leaders and** the presentation of a convincing articulation of the Christian vision of man and society remain a primary task** of the Church in your country; as essential components of the new evangelization, these concerns must shape the vision and goals of catechetical programs at every level.”
It’s not the Bishops who are caving. It’s adoption and foster care sections of Catholic Charities of Ill, and the Catholic hospital system in California. They choose to renounce their religion instead of fighting. I understand that fighting is a costly endeavor, financially, intellectually, emotionally, and every facet of your life. But that’s our cross, and God will give us the grace to handle it.I have been chewing on something for a day or so and wondering if there might be a small rainbow at the end of the storm…someone tell me how far off I might be,but could this situation be a catalyst to put a fire under our Bishops that has not fully been there in the past?
