Within what you wrote, there is none. But with evolution, there is.

Evolution has no purpose. Evolution is explainable without God.

It’s asking us to believe God used a means by which there’s no reason to believe God used that means. He may have done so, just to test our faith. However other objections have arisen here, such as the issues of

a) death, as a consequence of sin
b) the soul - when did God instill a soul into a primate-being
Then allow me to rephrase:

God created man with a purpose, but that creation took millions of years of evolution before the first proto-humans arrived, and yet more time before homo sapiens arrived on the scene - of which Adam and Eve were the first.

Why cannot God use evolution to create man in His image? Why, if I assume that evolutionary theories are correct, can I not also believe that death is a consequence of sin and that God instilled souls in the first homo sapiens to walk the planet?

Why must we insist that it’s either God or science? All wisdom – scientific, philosophical, or artistic – comes from God, and enables us to better understand the grandeur of creation, which gives us a slightly better understanding of His majesty.

Peace,
Dante

EDIT: Anything can be explained without God – that doesn’t mean the explanations are true, or that the thing itself is invalid. Physics, biology, chemistry – all the sciences – can be undertaken from the starting point that There Is No God without altering the facts that are observed and the theories that are based on those facts. The reason for this is simple: science is not a means to prove God’s existence.

Why, if I assume that evolutionary theories are correct, can I not also believe that death is a consequence of sin and that God instilled souls in the first homo sapiens to walk the planet?
I’m sorry, are you asking why you cannot believe that death is a consequence fo sin and also believe that death pre-existed sin by millions of years?

Jeremy

What evidence did he endorse? All he said was that there is scientific proof.

What proof? What reasons are there to believe in evolution?

Darwin himself outlined that the biggest problem with his theories was the lack of “transitional” forms. And he also said that if they didn’t pop up soon… which they have not, that his theories could not have been taken seriously.

I think everyone is off topic instead of looking for evidence.

Where is a horse becoming a pig? or a reptile becoming a bird?
Horses don’t become pigs and no scientist claims that they do. So that is a strawman. As for reptiles (dinosaurs becoming birds), try these:

Archaeopteryx
Rahonavis
Jeholornis
Microraptor
Changchengornis
Confucionornis
Cathayornis
Gobipterix
Neuqueornis
Concornis
Eolulavis
Iberomesornis
Protopteryx
Eoenantiornis
Patagopteryx
Yanornis
Apsarvis
Yixiaornis
Hongsharnornis
Vorona
Apsarvis
Icthyornis
The fossil record should show millions of “half and halfs” but we haven’t found them.
You were saying…
They few things that evolutionists cite for evidence of half man half apes are all admittedly fakes.
And that is an example of sublime ignorance.

I do beleve on it also .May be we are all saying the same thing in differents ways.GOG is beyong the time we all know about the psalmen(don’t remenber the #) for GOD one day is 1000…so we are seeing the change all over the wold .We can not denie it but also we have to understand the magnificence of GOD on top of it.May be my english is not enougth to say wat I want to say. But I hope you understand :may GOD bless you.🙂

The fossil record does show “half-and-half” creatures. And who’s to say that dinosaurs weren’t birds from the beginning? It seems that at least some evolved to grow feathers and achieve flight, but they weren’t lizards that became a different animal. God created us whether in one day of our time or millions of years. Once we gained the capacity to love, He blessed us with an immortal soul and revealed His existence to us.

He created for us a universe that is decipherable, but we won’t have the answers to all of our questions. The “missing link” may never be definitively identified. Despite the thought-provoking, educational dialogue here, findings will always be challenged, as they should be. He will reveal to us what suits His purpose in His time. Meanwhile, the debate rages on…

Evolution contradicts the Bible, plain and simple. Either death came after sin, or it came millions of year ago before the first ape-man drew his first breath. Incidentally, if you believe in Evolutionism, you must believe that the first man had simian parents.

At one time, “science” believed that lead could be transmuted into gold. At one time “science” believed that a person’s character could be read by the bumps on his head. At one time “science” said that man would never be able to fly.

The truth is, science is based on observation, not specualtion. Science has to agree with known scientific principles, not fit some pre-conceived opinion. Until you know what science is, and what it is NOT, you will contine to be gulled by junk science.

Evolutionism is not science, it is religion masquerading as science. It is a contridiction of the Bible. You can believe in Evolutionism or you can believe in the Bible. Trying to accept both simultaneously just makes you look ridiculous.

Alec, I checked out the site, and under their heading for recent transitional forms they have outlined 6. You have listed a number above, that I will take your word for. This is such a tiny drop in the bucket compared to the millions of species we currently have today, forget about the many more that must have existed through history.

Today, scientists have confirmed about 1.5 million species and it is suspected that there is as few as 2 million more to as many as 50 million to be classified. *hypertextbook.com/facts/2003/FelixNisimov.shtml

At a conservative estimate, transitional forms should be popping out of the woodwork. Where are they all? You mentioned that horses do not become pigs. Well where did pigs come from? Where is the 93% pig and 7% somthing else? There should be all kind of examples for you to show me.

Evolutionists have been searching for transitional forms for a hundred and fifty years. They haven’t found them, and they never will, because they don’t exist. Their whole world view is based on the belief of Evolutionism. It has to be true for them.

Science is the search for the truth. Science is not a dogmatic belief that is based on faith, with NO supporting evidence. No one has ever seen evolution: one species “evolve” into another, and yet, many believe. Is this science? No, it is folly!

To many, fossils showing similarity of design constitute “proof” of evolution. This is like going to a museum and studying the automobiles made over the last hundred years, and coming up with the theory that over millions of years, a Model T will evolve into a 1932 Ford.

Similarity of design hardly equates with physical morphing into another more advanced model. But some people are more gullible than others, and will see the proof they need to verify their belief.

Post Modern thought is predicated on Evolutionism, including Marxism, Naziism and of course, racism. The world has come to believe a lie. Well, not the whole world.

Carroll, Ph.D. explores how new patterns evolve when ‘old’ genes learn new tricks. *Old genes learning new tricks also apply to our own species and the evolution of traits that distinguish us from earlier hominids and other apes. *Despite immense advances in evidence and understanding, there remains a societal struggle with the acceptance of our biological history and the evolutionary process. - ResearchChannel is a nonprofit media and technology organization that connects a global audience with the research and academic institutions whose developments, insights and discoveries affect our lives and futures.”

Which is one reason why creationists are so opposed to evolution.
We live in a world of pain and suffering; I don’t see why that excludes God; plus, I fear that your rejection of evolution is not really based on any evidence, but rather is a panic that evolution some how makes the God of the bible look bad; but that is not a good reason to reject the evidence, rather it is a good reason to re-evaluate are interpretations. A literal interpretation in light of evolution, is obviously wrong, and contradicts the findings of science. Secondly, why does one assume that we must interpret genesis as wholly literal? Plus I think that Evolution makes God more humane, rather then a God that suddenly curses an earth where at first nothing dies, and then everything degenerates into suffering. I deduce from genesis, that at the very most, Adam and Eve at firsts where not subject to suffering, as we perceive it today, but animals were.

Animals do not suffer from spiritual and psychological trauma like we do; so pain and suffering in animals is allot different, and therefore is not evil, not to mention necessary, if they are to function and survive in an "ordered and divinely inspired universe”. I do not think pain in human beings is evil either, and is there for our survival; also inorder for us fully enjoy our sensory experience, we must be able to “feel” which inevitably, in a logical world made for our bennifit and salvation, leads to pain. As well as that, pain is a teacher which invokes a sense of value for our lives; which is good.

When Adam and Eve rejected God, there was nowhere else to go, and nothing else to be, but like the animals (which are subject to suffering and pain); the only difference is, we feel the pain of animals in a very personal way because we are personal beings. I think we allways had pain, but after the fall we may have lost are ability to deal with it, or maybe our pain increased. The death that we experienced had to have been spirtual, and we can see in many places in the bible where the author uses objects in the real world to express something of a spiritual nature; maybe because this is the only way we as the audience can best understand it with out experiencing it our selves.

Of course, what sets us apart from the animals, is the fact that we are like God; we have the ability to say “I Am”; we are not “it” like an animal. If we reject the very thing that makes us human, then we have chosen to be nothing more then animals, (dominating each other and being uncaring about each others well being). Thats when we cut our selves of from our destiny; but in reality we are not animals, we are destined to be in an eternal relationship with God.

We are to see the face of God; where as an animal will never see the face of God, and that is why an animal is thought not to have a soul. So of course it’s a great sin to act indifferently and selfishly like an animal, if you have a soul; we have no right to be like the animals; and therefore it is right that we suffer when we try to be, and it is inevitable that this should be the case; otherwise what is there to turn us away from sin if reason cannot enter our minds and hearts? This is what I believe is meant by the "fall”; the bible is full of imagery such as “worshiping the beast”, this is to become a slave to the impulses and evil perveted desires of the imagination, rather then be a servant to God.

God has freed us from our genes, and has given us the free-will to choose between him, and eternal unhappiness; obviously one would be a fool to knowingly choose eternal unhappiness. The animals and the evolution are there to teach us how “not” to act, and of course you are appalled by their nature, because it is not of Gods nature, and you are not an animal; you are meant for so much more! This is one good reason i can see for God using evolution; because its like a metaphore for us to see.

The unfolding of our world in such a mechanical way, is reflective of a divine order; as such that it allows us to make discoveries about its order, and where everything comes from. Accepting evolution actually makes it easier to prove the existence of God. Neither do I see that the purpose of evolution is to bring about pain and suffering; but rather is a mechanism that has brought about “sensory perception”(which are necessary and Good), as well as biological organisms. In an ordered reality, why be discontinuous by just placing creatures, out of the blue, on the earth. Evolution makes sense with the rest of the natural order. This evidently unfolds over time. What doesn’t make sense is when somebody says that such a thing can come about without the involvement of God. It’s not that the mechanism isn’t natural; it’s the idea that nature can explain the things that have developed as a result of the mechanism. Such things reflect a reality with a purpose.

Evolutionists have been searching for transitional forms for a hundred and fifty years. They haven’t found them, and they never will, because they don’t exist.
Every species is a transitional one
As is every fossil

Please provide a definition of what you think a transitional species would look like
Their whole world view is based on the belief of Evolutionism. It has to be true for them.
It has nothing to do with belief
It doesn’t HAVE to be true
It is just very very very likely that it is (as His Holiness stated)
If tomorrow someone were to find a bunch of new data that challenged the whole thing then scientists would just see what they had to change to accommodate it
Science is the search for the truth.
No it is a methodology for systematically examining the natural world
It is about facts and the explanation thereof
If you want truth try poets and priests not scientists
Science is not a dogmatic belief that is based on faith, with NO supporting evidence. No one has ever seen evolution: one species “evolve” into another, and yet, many believe. Is this science? No, it is folly!
There have been many observed instances of speciation
Both in the lab and in the natural world

You statements indicate you have a poor understanding of what evolution actually states

Things do not “morph” (metamorphosis is an entirely different process) and if you can’t clearly discern the difference between a designed/fabricated object like a car and an evolved organism then I’m not sure where to begin.

Modern cars have components in them (such as electronic ignition) that bare no relation to the parts that preformed similar functions in older models. Whole new systems were put in. Not so with living things. We share designs (including the faults in those designs) with our remote ancestors.

If cars evolved they would still come with a horse.
But some people are more gullible than others, and will see the proof they need to verify their belief.
Proof is for liquor and math not science
Post Modern thought is predicated on Evolutionism, including Marxism, Naziism and of course, racism. The world has come to believe a lie. Well, not the whole world.
Science is not normative it is descriptive. If someone wants to misuse science for political ends it is not the fault of the science.

There were oppressive governments and racism long before there was evolution or science.

Blaming science for Nazis is like blaming Christianity for the KKK.

The idea that God deceives us is just not logical. The best scientific evidence at one stage said that the earth was the centre of the universe. Why’d God deceive us to believing that?
God did not decieve us; we assumed that God put us at the centre. I do not believe that such ideas where driven by proper scienctific reseach.

I believe that proper science should not assume that God did it as presented by the bible. It appears that animals developed over time. “Science” as a study of nature", should start with the senses. It is more reasonable that God, who is timeless, made one timeless act which produced the unraveling of the universe which eventually lead to evolution. God coming and going at every step of the way, is possible, but is the least reasonable of the two.

The world is not flat.

That makes it that no matter what you observe God created it that way, else you’d not observe it to be that way.

Originally (in Darwin’s day) they believe the earth to be maybe a few million years ago. Obviously God deceived them to believe that and every time they’ve put the age of the earth back, God’s been there tricking them until at last we’ve got it right!
Flawed research, which got better and more precise over time.

God would never decieve human beings; he knew that there would be a problem with evolution and faith, yet there is know evidence that the world was created in 6 days. What do you think that means?

And God just decided to place a soul in an ape-like creature to make it human? I thought the soul came into being at conception (according to Catholic belief)
If one was to take this seriously, they would quickly see that this implicates both sides of the debate.

“No on should think that the Creation of Six Days is an allegory” said St Ephraim the Syrian

St. Basil the Great in his Hexatemeron says “Therefore, let it be understood as it has been written.”
Are you saying that St Ephraim the Syrian is infallible?

“If you believe that man came up from savagery, you will interpret all past history in those terms. But according to Orthodoxy, man fell from Paradise. In evolutionary philosophy there is no room for a supernatural state of Adam. Thos who want to keep both Christianity and evolutionism, therefore, are forced to stick an artificial Paradise onto an ape-like creature. These are obviously two different systems which cannot be mixed.” Adam." (Ibid, p46)
If you go along the lines, for example, of interpreting heaven as a “place” rather then a state of being, then i can understand your confuesion, when it comes to reconciling Christian theology with evolution.

We fall spiritually, not physically. The fall was spiritual.

That’s indeed a good point you were challenged on. We believe that death is a result of sin.

God created and saw that it was good. Adam introduced sin into the world.
Don’t you think that there would be a problem with over crowding, if what you are saying is in fact true?

Pope Benedict XVI doesn’t seem to have a problem with evolution or believing that heaven is a place where the Eternal One, our Father exists. This is my signature: “May the Eternal One, our Father in heaven, bless every effort to eliminate from our world any misuse of religion as an excuse for hatred or violence,” Pope Benedict XVI-October 12, 2006 (ADDRESS OF HIS HOLINESS BENEDICT XVI TO THE DELEGATION OF THE ANTI-DEFAMATION LEAGUE, Hall of Popes, Thursday, 12 October 2006)

It is a saying, my Father is in heaven. I dare say that this is just human language; its an expression that you can understand. We think in terms of places; we see that God is in the highest of places “heaven”, a place where we seek to be. ( though God is obviously greater then the place we are speaking of; but it can be misconcieved as God being lesser then a “place”, so we must realise that this is a figure of speach). It is easier and more pleasing to the imagination to picture heaven as a place of happiness, a place we look forward to visiting one day, then to think of it as a state of being. But no-where in the bible am i told that heaven is a “physical” place. Therefore one might say its a spiritual place. But then it doesn’t make sense to say that God is “in” heaven, for the spiritual has no spacail-dimensions or physical quantities that one can say he is in a place or fills a space. You are mind and Body, but your mind is no-where to be found in your body. Theres not a little compartment in the brain, where you can find the soul; it is immaterial, therefore it makes no real sense of speaking of the soul being “in” the body; rather it is the best way to explain it. This is just language that explains the the unity of soul and body; yet somebody can innocently fool themselevs into thinking, that then they must be able to see the spiritual “inside of the body”. Since heaven is more likley to be a spiritual place, wouldn’t it be more wise to think that heaven is God; is it not God that fullfills and makes us eternally happy, or is it a “place” where God just happens to be? Material things, ultimatly, do not make us eternally happy; God does. Heaven, is a perfect relationship with God, not a place. Hell, is to be with out God. Hell is not a place, it is a state of being. God in heaven, is a human expression.

The garden of eden is an analogical story expressing the fall of Adam and Eve. The talking snake, the tree, the forbbiden fruit; these are all just devices to help you better understand God and the Sin that came in between us and God. I don’t believe that it was ever meant to be taken literally.

Though i may be wrong, but thats how i make sense of things at the moment.
