Pope Benedict retired after inquiry into 'Vatican gay officials', says paper

All of this makes me recall the 2005 Way of the Cross quote from then Cardinal Ratzinger : “How much filth there is in the Church , and even among those who in the priesthood ought to belong entirely to Him.”

The man came to the papacy at a time of crisis and scandal. Venerable Fulton Sheen warned that a homosexual infiltration in the seminaries would someday strike at the very core of the church.

Perhaps Pope Benedict has become exhausted by all of that “filth” of which he spoke. After all , he is only human , with human limits of endurance. We lay people of the Church cringe at the mere mention of the Rembert Weakland-types in the clergy, but imagine how deeply such things must pierce the heart of such a devout churchman as Pope Benedict.

Yeah, it was that very speech that I was thinking of as I read this. “Filth” is a very specific word choice. You wouldn’t use “filth” to talk about, say, nepotism, cronyism, book-cooking, or etc. You use it to talk about something that repulses you.

Actually, he did more than any other to stop the homosexual pedophilia and Freemasonry that had infiltrated the Church. That is why the secular “public opinion” looks unfavorably on him. But that was already a given before he ever became Pope. Benedict is not resigning over any failure on his part. He is resigning because his health is deteriorating.

There never was any evidence that Benedict ever “covered-up” anything. Yet that lack of evidence did not stop prominent Atheists like Richard Dawkins to publicly call for Benedict’s arrest. And here I thought Atheists were all about “looking only at the evidence”. LOL!

An unconfirmed report in one of Italy’s biggest newspapers, La Repubblica, suggested that the Pope had resigned shortly after being presented with a dossier detailing a network of Vatican priests, “united by sexual orientation” who were being blackmailed.

Gossip, innuendo, not news

Please don’t speculate and don’t promote speculation here.

When facts are presented, that is fine, when papers print speculation, it is not news.
