Pope Benedict XVI will make his first visit as the spiritual leader of the Catholic Church to the United States this April.

The six-day trip will begin in Washington, D.C., and continue to New York City. The trip is historic, especially since the Holy Father will address the United Nations General Assembly, meet with President George Bush and visit Ground Zero.

I’m hoping to get tickets to Nationals Park in DC to be present at his mass. But I hear they haven’t figured out how to fairly distribute them yet.
 
yes, they are free tickets, if you belong to the archdiocese of NY or DC you can request them in your parish, any other place in the US you can ask in your bishop’s office and sign up to get tickets.

The Archdiocese of New York was not very helpful when I made my inquiries. In fact, one of the staff members of the communications office was somewhat rude, even when I told her that I was calling from Texas. Inasmuch as I realize that he’s visiting the Archdiocese of New York, the tickets should also be available for anyone outside the Metropolitan area who would like to see the Pope.:mad:
 
I’m waiting for word. As I understand it, my bishop (and all other NYS bishops besides the archdiocese downstate) received 500 tickets to distribute across his diocese for the Mass at Yankee Stadium, and everyone interested submitted names to their parish which then turned it into the bishop’s office … but who knows how many people actually are going to turn in names (I know that after the six of us, there were 13 from my parish and that was just the day after the announcement was made).

Thanks. I called them and got a very unfriendly response from the folks in New York. All I want is one ticket. I’m willing to make the sacrifice to go to NYC (plus, it’s the only one that is conducive to my work schedule). My problem is that they are not very helpful over at the Archdiocese.:eek:

Others, in earlier threads, have made the same remark. Maybe the people who answer the phones are overwhelmed by the volume of calls?
