The Pope’s birthday is April 16th. Does anyone know how we can send him birthday wishes or a spiritual bouquet?

I got this email today but I don’t have a link to it…
POPE TO PRESIDE MASS FOR HIS 80TH BIRTHDAY

VATICAN CITY, APR 10, 2007 (VIS) - The Office of Liturgical Celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff today released a communique announcing that, at 10 a.m. on Sunday April 15, Divine Mercy Sunday, the Holy Father will preside at a Eucharistic celebration to mark his 80th birthday, which falls the following day, April 16.

Thank you so much for this wonderful link, We sent our greetings as well!

Since we were talking about the pope’s birthday, I was curious… I know that our bishop will have to retire in 5 years time when he reaches his 75th birthday. Obviously, the pope must not have a mandatory retirement age, but is retirement an option? Could the pope retire if he so desired, or must he die in office? Just curious. Anyone know?

Some popes have abdicated (1 returned to be a hermit, some abdicated to allow a settlement of an antipope-type dispute). Given how JP2 ended, it’s very unlikely B16 would be any different. Christian dying is just as important as christian living.

And your bishop won’t have to retire. He will have to submit his resignation to the Holy Father. If HH accepts or not depends on how good a bishop he’s been, and other factors (eg health).
