Why do people automatically think there is something unsavory going on as soon as 2 X chromosomes are in proximity to an X and a Y - particularly if the latter wears a Roman collar. It says more about you that it does about them. Now, those Schoenstatt Sisters, they are a phenomenal bunch. No surprise that one of them has his trust.
FYI… she is NOT a Schoenstatt Sister…she is a lay woman.

You forget to mention that Ingrid Stampa replaces the Pope’s sister, Maria, who was his housekeeper since 1981. His sister is died in 1991.
Yes, I know his sister died and she replaced her.

starlight is right that she is not a Sister. Not all consecrated women are Sisters. For example, Regnum Christi includes lay consecrated women who are not Religious, not Sisters.

In all sincerity, I want to thank you people on this thread for letting me play “Devil’s advocate” (which I’ve never done before). Thank you all for this wonderful cathartic experience. (Better than group therapy).

Thank you Lisa N. for the comment of the "over active imagination.” You are absolutely right. I know you’re all probably very confused by this and rightly so. But let’s just say it’s just some issues of a personal nature that I had to work through 😉
I can’t discuss it with anyone else so thanks to all of you for being there for me.

Again I want to say I’m sorry to ALL OF YOU for any distress I may have caused. I really didn’t mean to and PLEASE believe me when I say I REALLY AM one of you!!! Thank you for your faith and thank you for your fidelity to our wonderful Pope.

I absolutely LOVE our new Holy Father!!! I know our Church is in good hands with Benedict XVI. I have been a great admirer of Cardinal Ratzinger for years (in more ways than one). God bless you all and GOD BLESS BENEDICT XVI!!!

Yes, but a consecrated woman make vow of chastity.

Just because he’s the pope doesn’t mean he can’t feel love for a woman in the way lay people form relationships. I’m sure they love each other. Perhaps, starlight is right in the insinuation. But the way I see it, both are very faithful catholics and I highly doubt that if this was the case, they wouldn’t jeopardize their souls for fleeting moments. He probably keeps her close to protect her and nothing more. And again, I say, nothing wrong with that.

Case in point: my uncle was a priest who fell in love with a woman, but because he loved God so much, he remained chaste. She loved him too and so remained chaste with him. They had a remarkable relationship as friends because they knew that God was helping them together, with their temptations.

Friendship between a man and a woman is possible. My best friend is a man et I’m not in love with him and he’s not in love with me.

Some examples of pure friendship :

St. Teresa of Avila and St. John of the Cross
St. Francis of Assisi and St. Clare of Assisi
St. Francis de Sales and St. Jane Frances de Chantal
St. Claude de la Colombiere and St. Margaret Mary
