With things like the Catholic Answers podcasts, these CA forums, The Catholic Channel on satellite radio, catholic podcasts on SQPN, and new catholic social networks like Flocknote, I can’t wait to see how technology is harnessed in the future to help more and more people hear the good news and learn the truth of our faith.

I’m glad to see the Pope reinforce this call as I already see it bearing fruit. I would still be a very casual Catholic if it weren’t for online apostolates and CAL.

(from the article)
…the Holy Father launched an appeal asking that cyberspace be a place that promotes a “culture of respect, dialogue and authentic friendship where the values of truth, harmony and understanding can flourish.”…I am inviting all those who make use of the new technologies of communication, especially the young, to utilize them in a positive way and to realize the great potential of these means to build up bonds of friendship and solidarity that can contribute to a better world. …
“Young people in particular, I appeal to you: bear witness to your faith through the digital world!” the Pope urged.
“Employ these new technologies to make the Gospel known, so that the Good News of God’s infinite love for all people, will resound in new ways across our increasingly technological world!”
I quoted part of the article that I found most interesting.

One of the things I try and highlight in my blog (in my signature) are ways we can use technology to bring our faith into our lives. I’ve linked to Catholic Cell Phone stuff - ring tones, daily texts of the pope’s message, daily prayer texts, etc. to sites where you can download rosaries onto your MP3, and a link to some funny videos on YouTube that give good info on NFP.

The start of what His Holiness is talking about is already out there - we just have to advertise it more.
