Pope civil unions comment appears to be an edited mashup, and not in original transcript from 2019

Something else that concerns me a little is that, while we can talk all day about how what the Pope said in the 2019 interview may have been taken out of context in this documentary, the Vatican editing the part on civil unions out from the original interview when it aired last year, shows it must have really concerned them too.

The bishop explains it in this article that he has a different understanding of civil unions that is different from the one we have here in the U.S. which makes sense since the Latin Countries have a different culture.

I think that if we look at what the pope actually says it is orthodox and the media just tries to get their licks.

The who am I to judge is a good example since the rest of the context that made sense was spliced out . Also at the synod it seemed like there would be many heterodox changes, but nothing happened.

the pope does not consider civil unions equal to marriage between and man and a woman. He said everyone needs a family, that doesnt mean with children. If two people want to share their lives together and grow old together and be there for each other when sick and when dying this is why the pope wants them to have civil unions. This is instilling a sense of dignity, it has nothing to do with their sex, who knows if its about sex and that in fact its about inability to trust the opposite sex, it could be sometimes, lonliness and only companionship, they dont want to come home to an empty house and dont want to always eat alone, etc. The pope looks at the complexity of todays familys. He is not at all changing his mind about gays being married.

He was talking about parents and siblings.

The Church teaches that relationships outside of the sacrament of matrimony are sinful.

There is nothing new under the sun. Every generation has its differences, but ultimately the human experience is the same.
He is not at all changing his mind about gays being married.
That doesn’t mesh with what he said. Civil unions are essentially secular marriages. To recognize a civil union is to recognize it as a marriage.

He said in the same interview that talking about homosexual marriage was a contradiction

Why doesn’t the Pope hold a press conference and he can be thoroughly questioned
Questioned by whom? And what are the conditions for the questioning to end? Is it an open-ended interrogation by people who will just keep coming back and asking for endless “clarification” on answers that have been given many times over? How about asking the person who mashed up the footage to show the original uncut footage and explain ad infinitum why he chose to take out that portion and leave this one in? I think the Pope has more important things to do than that.

The Pope’s one and only job is to lead souls to heaven. If making a public statement that clarifies his thoughts, and helps people get to heaven, then the sooner the better! I don’t know if he needs a Q&A, just spelling things out should suffice.

How much time has been lost by bishops and priests trying to clarify the statement for their parishioners? the bishops and priest have put out different statements further confusing the issue.

when did Jesus mention the sin the prostitute was being stoned to death for? R RG

Did you mean that question for me? I don’t know how it relates to what I said.

The Church teaches that relationships outside of the sacrament of matrimony are sinful.
Relationships are never sinful. Only actions can be sin. Most of the relationships one has in one’s life will be with people other than their spouse.

just spelling things out should suffice.
Things were spelled out, and the record of them being spelled out was heavily edited and combined with another record to give the impression he said something he didn’t. So why would the next time be different, especially when there are indications that there is a faction within the Church determined to undermine him by any means necessary.

How much time has been lost by bishops and priests trying to clarify the statement
And how much extra time taken up by bishops and priests pouring fuel on the fire when they should know better?

No, I opt for civility and getting the whole story before running off at the mouth.
