Where in canon law does it say, i must put mary second under jesus in praying?

While we are on the subject. Where in the gospels or pauls writings does it say to pray to mary?

Without St Paul, christianity as we know it, would never be. if he thought it was important to pray to her, i am sure in all his writings, he would have said so. He did more for our church than mary ever did.

 Mary is the mother of GOD. She gave birth to Jesus our savior. She, a human being carried God in her womb. The is the mother of Jesus, how can you disrespect our Lord by saying such things. Paul could have done nothing without Mary it was Mary’s fiate that brought us our savior. If you think your earning brownie points with Jesus by disrespecting his mother -think again.

paarsurrey,

i have no idea. some pope thought it was a good idea to make mary a VIP in our church. look at the history of our founding fathers, not one of them made any claim about mary. They are the ones that set the laws from the apostles.

as a matter of fact, they were stupid compared to him. What did trhey teach him? If anything he taught them.
Wow, what a lousy judge of character God is to chose stupid parents to be born to, huh?

He probably just should respect them for changing his diapers and keeping him safe in Egypt all those years, don’t you think? I mean, just being saved from Herod would win some points from me.

How does one honor their mother in their culture?

You’ll have to take that up with Christ. I’m pretty sure he’d like to claim responsibility for our Church being what it is.

Also, Mary was still alive at the time. So he probably would have just wrote her a letter.

Mary deserves our respect as jesus mother, that is all. Not on equall par as paul or the other apostles. That is my view, She did not come to save us, jesus and the other apostles did. It is saying i must put c.s. lewis’s mother on a footing almost like lewis. does not cut it. i will give her the respect of being his mother, but not idolizing her.

You respect her by calling her stupid and unimportant?

you are missin the point, jesus was GOD. he is all powerful. he does not need a human to teach him or take care of him. He made us all. lol, what can he learn from us? we must learn from him.

SO why did Jesus have parents at all, if he didn’t need them? After all he is God and he doesn’t need anyone. He is all powerful absolutely in agreement with you one hundred percent. So why did he chose to born of Mary and have parents?

no one has to pray to mary to get to heaven. that is some man made idea, from some pope. Paul told us how to get to heaven. Faith.i look at it this way, We are all god children, What do you want from your kids? perfection or trust and believe? i suggest trust and faith. That is what god is looking for. Not following all these man made laws. that where never put in the bible. we are getting like the pharisee’s, worrying about following all these laws.

This is actually kind of funny. St. Paul (as us catholics like to call him) only knew Jesus for about 30 minutes one day on the roadside. Mary, on the other hand, knew him his entire life. Who do you think knew him better or had a better chance of learning from him?

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say the person that used to nurse him and look after his personal hygiene (if you get my drift) is much more likely to be Holy because of the closeness of Him.

There would probably be a Gospel of Mary had women not been discriminated against at the time. Perhaps some day we’ll all get to sit at her feet and hear wonderful stories of Jesus as a child. I can’t wait 👍

Yes you do.

This is protestant preaching. You know I was a Protestant. Your argument is not better than our. It helps to illustrate if we do just one thing that is different not five or whatever.

So, we need to know what you believe. It isn’t enough for you to say Purgatory is evil, you have to tell us what happens instead.
If you were asked by God… Why should I let you into Heaven, how would you answer?

St. Justin in 110-165 A.D. writes:
For whereas Eve, yet a virgin and undefiled, through conceiving the word that came from the serpent, brought forth disobedience and death; the Virgin Mary, taking faith and joy, when the Angel told her the good tidings that the Spirit of the Lord should come upon her, and the power of the Most High overshadow her, and therefore the Holy One to be born of her should be the Son of God, answered, Be it don to me according to thy word. And so by means of her was he born, concerning whom we have shown so many Scriptures were spoken; through whom God overthrows the serpent, and those angels and men who have become like to it, and on the other hand, works deliverance from death for such as repent of their evil doings and believe in him (Dialogue with Trypho, 100 A.D.)
Eve was called the mother of the living…after the fall this title was given to her. True it is…the whole race of man upon earth was born from Eve; but in reality it is from Mary the Life was truly born to the world. So that by giving birth to the Living One, Mary became the mother of all living (St. Epiphanius, Against Eighty Heresies, 78,9)
In the year 130 Irenaeus wrote about her. He was familiar with those who had been close both to Peter and to Paul and who “had still the preaching of the blessed Apostles ringing in their ears” He said:
“As Eve was seduced by the speech of an angel, so as to flee God in transgressing his word, so also Mary received the good tidings by means of the angel’s speech, so as to be God within her, being obedient to this word. And though the one had disobeyed God, yet the other was drawn to obey him; that of the virgin Eve, the virgin Mary might become the advocate and as by a virgin the human race had been bound to death, by a virgin it is saved, the balance being preserved- a virgin’s disobedience by a virgin’ obedience.” (Against Heresies, 3, 19) (130 A.D.)
