Asks Mother Mary to Wrap Us in Her Mantle.

Our holy father, God be with him as he carries his cross to follow Christ. I know he is suffering much because of the crisis in the Church. He is so worried about the Church. I hope he continues to push for the Traditional Mass with more authority.

I’m curious as to why should the pope push for the traditional mass? I don’t understand what was so great about it; could you explain it to me?

Its a prejudice, hard to explain without spooking the chickens.

You can only be more spiritual if you pray in Latin

Have you actually attended either the EF or the OF forms of the Mass? You’re posting this same comment all over the place on these Forums.

Ive spent many years in Latin churches, the only places Ive put these type of ideas is in threads that warrant them.

I didnt put them in apologetics coz they werent warrented.

is it because Ive identified as a Christian? people are tending to assume that Im not Catholic, very ammusing but the backlash seems to be that Catholic s dont id as Christian, that s what Protestants do.

Anyway, Ive been to many English and Latin Masses. If youd really “checked out” what Id wriiten, you would know that I love latin. I believe the EF as a form of worship in the CC is sanctioned by his holiness and a legitimate form of worship.

so, by what right are you discouraging me? are you part of the church hierachical? do you “out trump” me? Im merely saying what the CC as a Catholic body believes.

If I questioned the arrogance of some latin speakers because they actually think they are holier because of their language as opposed to the Holy Spirits charisms and quoted Augustine noting that God crowns his own gifts, how is that against either the EF or the language, after all, Augustine actually taught Latin rhetoric, if anyone had a right to be arrogant it was he, but it was a gift of God.

my suggestion is to find the link with each thread for why I may have written as I have. I dont think anything Ive written is unfair, unless you actually really think that the language makes a difference, in which case maybe the OF is ungodly, wrirtten by a Mason etc.

the previous poster asked why the Pope should promote the trad form with more authority. When no one else explained why I filled in the blanks.

If you want to fill in your own blanks, you should answer the questions.

from article said:
“For those who wear it, it is a sign of filial abandonment to the protection of the Immaculate Virgin,” he said. “In our battle against evil, may Mary our Mother wrap us in her mantle.”

I hope this message of hope can be transmitted to millions of people in our sad world which is in desparate need of Mary’s protection.

I pray that the distractions that are trying to prevent this message from coming to fruition will cease.

I am thrilled with the Holy Father’s words and I’ve noticed more and more the distinction of two separate camps – the camp of Mary – her warriors who daily pray the Rosary, wear the scapular, try to attend daily Mass, and Eucharistic Adoration and the other camp of the cultural, more liberal Catholics – some of whom don’t even know what the scapular is and have no heartfelt devotion to her messages.

Sad that many will not know the richness nor experience the graces obtained from the traditional devotions and sacramentals which urged our hearts toward a greater love of God.

The ‘Reform of the Reform.’ Thus, grounding the Missal of Paul VI in the traditional liturgy of the Roman Rite found in the Missal of Blessed John XXIII. In essence, an end to the ‘spirit of Vatican II,’ and a free for all attitude found in the sacred liturgy. Of course such a process will not happen overnight or even in the Pontificate of His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI. His Excellency, Bishop Cordileone of the Diocese of Oakland has expressed his support in the aspect of the Extraordinary Form influencing the celebration of Ordinary Form. Lastly, he himself has been known to offer his support and participation in the celebration of the Extraordinary Form,

I don’t see why you call the scapular a “traditional” devotion. It has never been out of use. It’s a Catholic devotion period- no need to make divisions where their are none.

The Holy Father is rightly encouraging this devotion. If I had more religious discipline I would wear it.

I wish folks would stop using terms like “traditional” vs. “liberal” Catholics. We are one Church, not like the Orthodox with different branches- well we have the eastern Churches but they fall under the Authority of the Pope.

I’ve been to a Traditional Mass before and found it quite beautiful but I definitely felt less engaged. It was more like I was watching the mass instead of actually praying the mass. Part of the problem is I don’t know Latin. I know a few words and that’s it. Not many people in my generation know it either so that makes things a bit difficult if the Pope changes anything soon which I know wouldn’t happen but could.
But I do attend a liturgy that’s very much influenced by the TM which I love. It has the smells and bells and Latin 🙂

Well, even if you don’t know precisely what is going on in the EF at all times you can still have an enriching experience. The approach is different than the OF. Just go and experience it without stressing about the need to follow alone. THis takes some time.

I like both rites.

I wear the Fivefold Scapular which is basically 5 scapulars on one cord. The brown scapular which is what is being talked about in the article is included with the fivefold scapular. I was invested in the fivefold scapular a few months ago. I really love wearing it. Unfortunately, I haven’t been fulfilling the scapular obligation of praying a 5 decade Rosary every day for the past week or so. I need to start again.

For those with discerning hearts and eyes to see what’s happening…

I think knowing Latin is a thing of interest. My parish priest celebrates latin Mass forthnightly and i always attend because i loved it, now i can attend latin Mass comfortably and participate actively. I dont know what your generation is but i’m less than 30. Put some effort in learning it, you would like it i think:thumbsup:

I wear a scapular medal, which I began using after first being installed with the brown scapular.
