Just a fact of life. Unfortunately. We are supposed to be “one Church” but theologically are in fact separated into different “camps” so to speak. There are Catholics that indeed follow Catholic Doctrine, and then there are those like Gov. Cuomo who go to Mass, profess to be Catholic but pushed gay marriage through in NY, and is living with his girlfriend. Still going to Mass and receiving communion and doesn’t see anything anti Catholic about it. There are actual Catholic groups that believe in abortion, gay marriage etc. run by nuns and clergy. I’m not sure what you call those people, but personally, I don’t even call them Catholic. Yet they insist they are Catholic.
I really like this too.
What do you mean runned by clergy? If this is the case shouldn’t this be reported to the local Bishop of the Diocese.
Nuns? or Do you mean Religious Sisters?
Like I stated before, if this is the case why can’t their actions be reported to the local Bishop of the Diocese.
Sad to say, I have family and friends who are like this. I remember one time at Mass a young woman told her heart-wrenching story about her experience with an abortion.
I turned to my friend and said, “That was really beautiful and touching.”
“Ahh, well that is something I don’t agree with.”
I have a close family member who left the Church because of the “Too many rules” and because she thinks that Catholics hate gay people.
I’d like to say a thing or two to them but than I always think I’m being judgemental or I don’t know what to say?
All I really know to do is to Pray for them and whenever I see a Crucifix at home, Church, image, etc. I always think of Our Lord on the Cross saying, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do” and at times I think well Jesus, we do know what we are doing and I often wonder Does Jesus like what is happening in the Church?
God bless,
