Theoretically speaking, if the Bishop is simply WRONG, it still doesn’t give you the right to disobey or defame their office through defiance.

The ex-Franscicans are disobeying the Bishop by hearing confessions and celebrating Mass after being expelled. The visionaries are disobeying the Bishop by continuing to give messages from the appartions after he told them to cease. The Bishop has the power to do these things as a vicar of Christ.

Not for Medjugorje supporters! They won’t rest until Rome declares Medjugorje authentic - and if Rome doesn’t, then they’ll wait until the Pope declares Medjugorje authentic - and if the Pope doesn’t, than they’ll say the Vatican is evil and follow the appariton exclusively. It’s a tried-and-tested path to schism.

You may have hit on something there. I had wondered what the infernal plan might be.

Also, if the ‘seers’ are ultimately proven bogus, I should think it will harm people’s faith; another bonus to the Devil.

I mean, what’s to stop me declaring I hear divine locutions? Nothing, except the local Bishop. So I ignore him, and tell people not to heed him. Thus a split is introduced in the Church. And when people gather around me and pray, miracles happen, because people are praying for them. And I can be as psychic as a turnip and as holy as Swiss cheese.

I don’t think it is forbidden to pass on the messages and it is not the seers who are doing so. The distrubution is organised through lay people (as far as I know). And in Medjugorje there are hundereds of priests from all over the world listining to confession. Where is the evidence to what you mentioned?

There is not just sin in the heart. And we also have a consience.
I already mentionded that the Church is guidance and orientation and more. That is sure. But what if I go to Church to confesion and pray without my heart?!

And so many people have found their way to regular Scripture reading because of messages in Medjugorje.

Sure it is enough what you are doing. Nothing against that. But if you try living the messages, you can notice, that it is nothing too simple…

They can’t be reading, as I have, the bits where Jesus tells the Apostles to obey even the scribes and pharisees because they sit in the seat of Moses (the seat of spiritual authority), or where Paul states that even the devil can appear as an angel of light (let alone the Virgin Mary - a fair warning against overemphasis on any alleged apparition really).

Nor the part where Paul admonishes a demon which to all appearances seems to be a good spirit - a demon which states that Paul is proclaiming ‘a way of salvation’. It shows how important deep discernment is - the mere fact that the demon said ‘A way’ and not ‘THE way’ is enough for Paul, the deepest of discerners, to realise that it was in fact a spirit of evil and not of good. Since if the spirit were of God it would say THE way, as Christ is THE way and no other.
