This is nothing but bull c****. Adam was the first human and he was created perfect. You think cavemen could keep herd and farm like Cain and Abel? I believe Pope Francis is finally showing his true colors, that of a heretic.

If creation did not happened like it is stated in Genesis its one of two things, either God is a liar or the ones saying it did not happened as Genesis tell us it did are calling God a liar.

I hope the Pope and those who call themselves Christians who believe in evolution do not think God is a liar.
Possibly that’s a narrow reading of Genesis.

Reported…Adios!

Gesh!

Ah… yes, actually!

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neolithic_Revolution

I quote:
Archaeological data indicates that the domestication of various types of plants and animals evolved in separate locations worldwide, starting in the geological epoch of the Holocene[2] around 12,000 years ago.[3] It was the world’s first historically verifiable revolution in agriculture.
And, yes, granted, it is Wikipedia. But read any textbook on human history and you won’t find anything different.

It doesn’t contradict Scripture to say human biology and human culture developed at different rates.

There are many logical fallacies in evolution…but they are only fallacies for ATHEISTIC evolution.

When God enters the picture, guiding everything, it makes perfect sense. Dont you think?

absolutely…the problem is only for fundamentalists protestants who have so many errors to begin with.

If the pope is saying evolution is part of God’s plan then it is designed intelligently.

I cannot think of anything Pope Francis has said that would even remotely indicate that he thinks “God is a liar.” Including this particular address.

There are two different creation accounts in Genesis, anyway. So I don’t know how you think you can square those. Is one of them lying? Are both? Or maybe they’re just a different style of text than you think they are.

But I’m trying to grasp why anyone would reject evolutionary theory when both 1) mainstream science supports it, and scientific developments have resulted from it and 2) the Church does not detect any problems with it.
Tarkan Atilla:
Well, I suppose this is a US forum…
Man, I love the U.S., but there’s something seriously wrong with our education system if there’s such widespread disbelief in basic science. It’s not like we’re talking about wild, highly speculative multi-universe stuff here. This came up a few months ago in another thread and I actually had to convince people that no scientist actually believes that man “came from monkeys.” I mean, wow… come on.

I won’t eliminate this as a possibility, but it seems the figurative language of creating us from the earth is to show that we are connected to the earth and other things. I see no
reason why God could have not created us by evolving over time in an animal like form, but at some point in history at just the right time. He took two of these creatures and breathed life into them, giving them their souls and setting them part as a new creation…humans as we know them.
The Bible doesn’t say God breathed life into 2 creatures but specifically says formed man out of the dust of the earth & the woman was fashioned from the rib of the man! - Genesis 2 :7

Well, the “dust of the earth” can easily be seen as a way of describing the microbes that are found everywhere under our feet. So Genesis predicted evolution from microbes long before scientists understood it.

And that cannot be taken figuratively?

The church has taught it is figurative.

Genesis :1 says God created the sea creatures and land animals “according to their kind.”
To me, that means they did not evolve into other kinds of animals.
Man was definitely a separate creation…in the image of God.

There could be evolutionary changes within the “kinds” of animals but no evolving into a different kind.

EXACTLY!!!
This is what I believe. Evolution explains the progress and fate of a species, but not the origin.

So you would hold that God said “poof a tiger” “poof a lion” “poof an amoeba” “poof a man”.

Interesting

Don’t give me that "poof " garbage…read Genesis :1 and tell me what you think it says. 🤷

There is nothing even the slightest bit controversial in what the Pope said.
