Point is, God may choose the person but the person still has the ability and choice to choose evil over good, be they disciple or Pope.

Another example would be King Saul anointed king by God.

Pope bashing is not acceptable at any time, but it’s especially wrong in the middle of the coronavirus epidemic when the Pope is doing all he can to calm and reassure his flock, lead them in prayer, and generally act like a spiritual leader.
 
there is a difference between bashing and not agreeing with something that isn’t dogma.

The first line of the OP’s first post refers to “bashing”, not “not agreeing with something that isn’t dogma”.
I am addressing the question posed by the OP, not whatever other thing you’re thinking of.
