Pope Francis: Demotion of Burke not ‘punishment’

The money media need the narrative that Nice Pope Francis is going to throw out all the last thirty years of correction of fraudulent ‘reforms’ and turn the Church back into the Dutch bishops’ Disneyworld. Sadly certain parts on the opposing end of the Church are all too willing to go along with the narrative, but with Nice Francis as the liberal ideal.
The whole original story was derived from the very mindset that Francis is combating - that ’ The Church’ is primarily directed by ecclesial politics rather than by the Holy Spirit.

Yet, he won’t be at Synod '15 which is where the real fireworks will take place…? Doesn’t make sense to me, but what do I know?

I believe he can still be at the Synod, he just has to be appointed, rather than automatically being included due to his position.

Hello Digitonomy.

That is true, but if you aren’t a member of the the Press and are a faithful Catholic, why would you want to further the distortions their “analysis” is for them? If you are a member of the Press and you come here, isn’t it fair to identify oneself as such so it won’t seem as if you have an ulterior motive for “chatting” here? It just seems to me that some folks fall into lock-step with certain ideologies that the Press furthers too easily and will, without completely thinking through the result of their repeat-after-me the ill will of many in the Press.

I wouldn’t want to do that. Certainly the media is sometimes ignorant of the Church, and faulty in its reporting. For that reason, it’s useful to point out when the media gets it right, and when it gets it wrong. That’s what I try to do. Actually, I don’t do too much of the latter, since there is usually an avalanche of posts that have beaten me to it.

I don’t think it’s very useful to decry the media for doing its job, which is why I made the comment in my earlier post.

I like Cardinal Burke a lot, but I am confident that a great majority of the bishops present also uphold the beauty that is the gift of marriage. No one is going to repeal Matthew chapter 19.
