You know, I’m not one of this pope’s biggest fans. But one thing that I love about him and something he and I share is our strong dislike of the bureaucracy that can get in the way. Pope Francis has been a strong advocate of clearing away needless or confusing rules or processes that are nothing but obstacles to the saving sacraments. He has mentioned a liberalization of baptism making it a faster and easier process open to more people.
Very well said. I remember when a relative of mine, who had a disabled child (baptized in the Church), was refused the right to bury that child because “she didn’t receive First Communion.” Never mind that the child in question could not swallow and had to be fed through a stomach tube. The story ended happily, but not without a little arm-twisting.

One thing I hate is when a pastor takes on a business role and not the role of a father. I have lived in some places where the priest understands his role. I have lived in other where the priests are more like CEOs.
This comment from the pope is welcomed by me for a group of people who are misunderstood, ignored, and discounted by the world and sadly sometimes our church.
