No agreement should EVER be made with atheistic communist governments. The church faithful to Rome is literally underground because of persecution by the communist government. It would be best for Pope Francis to listen to the Cardinal of China… Cardinal Zen.

China is a LOT different than Cuba…

Naive is a synonym for “simple” or “innocent.”

etymonline.com/index.php?term=naive
It also has the connotation of overly simple and ignorant of reality. A synonym isn’t an exact equivalent. Naïveté may be a good thing when it comes to your way of life, and it may imply simplicity in that case. But it doesn’t imply just simplicity when it comes to the discussion of the events of the world. It isn’t a good quality to ignore the daily events so that we can pretend things are different.

Can we please stop with all the incendiary Pope Francis headlines.
We are obligated to speak respectfully about our leaders in the church, especially the Holy Father.
There is nothing inflammatory whatsoever about this headline or story. Nobody in this thread has disrespected His Holiness. We are simply discussing news.

Cardinal Zen, like any subordinate who may have founded reservations about an action his superior may take, has a DUTY to inform the superior. Cardinal Zen would not be doing his job if he did not make his reservations known to the Holy Father.

Has there been any new news on this topic?

Are there any CAF members in China? Or would this site perhaps be censored there?

Anyway, I’d love to hear what any Chinese nationals have to say on this subject.

If a mainland Catholic spoke honestly about his government’s treatment of Catholics, he might be arrested. (or disappear)
