It seems to me that there are a lot of people coming to these Catholic forums searching for answers and or just to discus concerns. I find it highly concerning that you so flippantly disregard so many of these questions and concerns and end with either calling names or making false accusations. To say people are xenophobic because they question or have concern about things transpiring in our world and the Catholic church and with our Pope and then brush them off as a joke or troll is highly concerning and offensive to me. It is very off putting and will absolutely drive many away from the Catholic church and doctrine if this is how questions and concerns are treated. And there may very well be many who have come here as a last try before leaving the church. You may laugh off the idea that any of our neighbors who happen to be Muslim could absolutely be Islamic jihadists or learning and being trained to be, that is your right. There are many people who know about the many Muslims from the U.S. who ARE Islamic jihadists and HAVE murdered, slaughtered or caught in their plots to do so. They DID attend Mosques here in our neighborhoods. They DO live among us. They (most) DID grow up in the U.S. some are citizens, some were born and raised here. Some are Caucasian from an average American family, born and raised. We also have had incidents of honor killings of family members, slaughter on our military base in the name of Allah and such other acts here in the U.S. - and abroad. We have a president parading a sympathizer on tv who has very openly sided with their cause. Other countries ARE being taken over by Islamists as it IS there mission to do so around the world. Now our Catholic churches are telling their congregations to go to Mosque and to celebrate their religious holidays with them and our Pope is joining with Muslim leader in allowing Muslim prayer in the name of Peace. It IS all very concerning, if not disturbing, and it is scary and people SHOULD be questioning. So please get off your condescending high horse and let people discus their concerns. It may shine more wisdom if you educate yourself more about Islam, their culture, their grooming and dress what it means, what certain gestures mean and the language they use. What the QuRan says and who wrote it, how it is used and how the people who practice what it instructs, may also help.
If calling out xenophobia, and stereo types is upsetting to you I suggest you examen why that makes you uncomfortable.

I have been on this forum a lot, I am patient and kind to people, read through my posts.

Do I mess up sometimes yes, as I did with my response to your first post that I apologized for.

That said, I am a straight shooter and have no problem calling out the gross errors of your last post.

To say it’s concerning that a Muslim prayed for peace in Israel with a Jew and Catholic is ridiculous !!

Then to justify your concern by saying they are all out to murder us is even worse. It’s not like the Pope invited Bin Laden to pray !

Your post made my point for me.

Again, two incorrect statements and assumptions you made about me and what I said and end with making a joke of me and concerns some people have -

“To say it’s concerning that a Muslim prayed for peace in Israel with a Jew and Catholic is ridiculous !! Then to justify your concern by saying they are all out to murder us is even worse. It’s not like the Pope invited Bin Laden to pray !”

I did not say it is concerning that a Muslim prayed for peace in Israel with a Jew and Catholic. I did not say they are all out to murder us. And the joke on the end … well it speaks for itself.

I find your post inappropriate. One could even say it is sinful to disparage the Pope as you have done.

And it is allowed as the Pope did it.
Well, Pope Francis opened the door on this one, as when he, as Archbishop of Buenos Aires he publicly criticized Pope Benedict’s stance on Islam and his Regensburg Address, saying “Pope Benedict’s statement don’t reflect my own opinions…These statements will serve to destroy in 20 seconds the careful construction of a relationship with Islam that Pope John Paul II built over the last twenty years”. Pope Francis in Evangelii Gaudium stated himself that the Pope does not have a monopoly on these issues.

There is absolutely no point to your post about mosques and jihad and terrorists if it was not to say that we should have nothing to do with any Muslims.

Otherwise what is the point of that comment in relation to the Popes peace conference?

Again I ask you, should there be no peace in the Middle East? And if there should be, why would praying for peaceful resolution on all sides not be part of the process?

In all things acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.”

Seriously? The pope is not infallible in everything he says and does. Only in matters of dogma.

Muslim prayers being said at the Vatican - perhaps this is the sign that I should leave the Catholic Church and return to the Orthodox.
Maybe. . .

If your faith in the seat of Peter is so easily shaken- I can see your concern.

I will follow the Pope. I am just a simple layman. I pray, pay, and obey.

Not xenophobia - some of us understand more about Islam than you.

And Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew does not speak for all Orthodox.
Do you understand more about Islam than what we read in the CCC- that Muslims worship the One True God?

Go to any muslin group on facebook and actually read what they are saying about this…then decide if this is a good thing or not. What is that saying??? The devils in the details…Praying for all eyes to be open

Is the answer in evangelizing and changing the views of lay muslims, to build walls around ourselves,

Or is perhaps, praying with one of their leaders about finding a solution to a problem that they are deeply concerned with, show that we love them and Christ loves them.

It’s interesting to see you say this, because I’ve seen several reports that the so-called prayers that the Muslims read were quotes from 2nd surah which ask for victory over infidels. The imam they say, did not read the prayers that had been published by Radio Vatican at all. This is from witnesses who are Germans from Arabia and they are fluent in Arabic. And they also say that the Vatican website denies this happened. This could be the start of some further tensions of mistrust and disagreement, sad to say. When witnesses (who know the language) say one thing, and officials (who might not be able to understand Arabic) say another, whom should you believe?

It is quite a indication of the sign of the times if people truly see nothing wrong with this. Is this something the Apostle would have done?
St. Paul commended the Athenians for being very religious and taught an equivalency of their “unknown god” to Jesus Christ. So, yes.

I would say the sign of the times is the attitude that everyone interprets for themselves…everything; non-catholics interpret the Bible individually and Catholics interpret tradition and the Bible individually. The idea that so many lay people are willing to second guess the Pope, especially such a holy and humble man, is the sign of the times. Even the Great St. John Paul II had his detractors from the ranks of the Catholic on the street.

Sadly you are dead right in this.

These claims regarding controversial prayers made by the Imam at the Vatican Gardens REALLY need to be investigated. The Vatican denies they were made, but there should be an audio tape that can be examined.

Part of it can be heard on the video link I posted. There is video from multiple sources, mostly secular.

The idea that it’s something different than reported is NONESENSE.

AND MORE DISTURBING is the implication that there’s some sort of conspiracy theory perpetrated by the Holy Father.

Unbelievable people.

The Catholic Church is the Church of Christ, thus the “gates of Hell shall not prevail”, i.e., there is nothing to worry about either way, although I agree that the very idea that the Vatican is suppressing something or rather the Holy Father is is rather unbelievable.

You do realize that the patriarch of Constantinople participated in these events, and you do realize that the pope has not changed nor done anything to compromise the teachings of our Church, if he had, then, and only then should we be worried.

Many victims of Islamic jihadists are Muslims themselves, i.e., they are a threat to the whole world including their own co-religionists. That being said, I do not deny the threat they (terrorists) represent to the West, as such, we are to be vigilant, yet the whole point of this Mid-East peace summit is to bring about solutions that would deter terrorists from gaining traction, thus, why is it Catholics are so worried, i.e., they are praying for peace on Vatican grounds, that’s it.

I don’t think people questioning this event are saying, or have said, that the Pope is part of a conspiracy or that he is not believable or is not telling the truth to the world. And I don’t believe those who question mean disrespect to the Pope. I think if you read posts again you will see the mistrust is with the Islamists, symbolism and the Islamic prayer portion. These are very dangerous times, spiritually and otherwise, and we have been warned about them. We need to have our eyes and ears open at all times and approach or accept things of this particular nature with a great deal of caution. Not that I do not believe the Pope has approached with caution. I believe he has to the best of his abilities. If you wish to be open and inclusive of Islamists yourself, it would be wise to learn much about the culture and meanings of things etc…

How about we start with the word “Islamist”. This summit was inclusive of* Muslims*. It was not a political rally.
