Agreed. It is never a good idea to put labels on people. Better to think generously of others. Do you have any proof that P. Maurin inspired DD?

Proof that Maurin inspired Dorothy Day?

Her autobiography. Every biography of her ever written. Everything ever written by Ms. Day, or anyone connected with the Catholic Worker.

It’s common, universally accepted, knowledge.

They didn’t. As far as I know, Maurin never married anyone. Dorothy Day had a civil marriage when she was very young, in her pre-Catholic Worker days, before she ever met Peter Maurin.

Peter Maurin was not Dorothy Day’s lover. They never married.

I don’t know a thing about her really. That was why I went to an article about what some of her actual accomplishment might have been.

People say the same about Merkel, that she was a communist when young and so not to trust her, and yet I don’t think she is now. And Garry Kasparov used to have links with the communist party but don’t think he is a communist now either considering he is outspoken against dictorships (which is what communism promotes). This is the trouble about celebrityisim, is that it encourages labels. Labelling everything and everyone is very much a product/consequence of capitalism. Better to let our identity be our Catholic faith.
