It’s just so confusing with so many articles circulating. There is enough to draw conclusions but then enough to question those conclusions as well. It really should just be spelt out, but it doesn’t seem it will be. The poor people in Memphis need to come together again. I just don’t see how that will happen until they get the answers they need

Very confusing indeed. There are stories all over the place on what is going on. But my sense is that with all the problems our church has at the moment, this could have been handled very differently. I happen to have been passing through Memphis last Sunday. Stopped for mass at a predominantly black parish. Beautiful service that was keeping with the liturgy and also incorporating a beautiful cultural experience. I spoke with the Deacon and there is even more to the story. Some parishes with LGBT leanings and ministries were also instrumental in bringing down this Bishop. Most of the transferred priests had been there beyond their normal 6 year stay. This parish loved the Bishop.

I have heard conflicting stories from the two families I know in Memphis about the bishop. One is so thankful he started to clean up the mess. They left their parish because of a priest that would do and say very unorthodox things for a parish that was more traditional. They are devistated, and so is their new parish. The other family remained in the first parish and are so angry that the unorthodox priest was transferred. They are very happy that Bishop Holley is gone. Bese two families are relatives and because of this situation no longer speaking.

Edit to clarify:
Not my relatives. They are related to each other. They are just close friends of mine.

Bishop Holley discussed his removal with Raymond Arroyo on EWTN recently. Video is 13.5 minutes.

Yes, it sounds like he tried to clean up what he saw as sloppy management of the diocese and some folks complained. Too bad he wasn’t supported by the Church leadership.

Yes that’s what it sounds like. It is very frustrating. How was he removed so quickly and others, like Law and McCarrick, remained? There are so many truly horrible things that have gone on with everyone turning a blind eye. Why was such an orthodox bishop removed and forced into early retirement? It is difficult to trust the Church right now.
