I would simply like to have at least one trustworthy Catholic news source where I could get the TRUE message Pope Francis is trying to deliver - instead of the message the media distorts (at least that’s what it’s like in the USA).

He seems saddened by something lately :(. Let’s all just pray for him!!!

I believe that Pope Francis’ idea of quitting the papacy in 4-5 yrs is very demoralizing to Catholics. To me it shows his lack of faith in God. God is the one who chose him to be pope and as a faithful servant of the Lord, should finish his papacy till he dies. Otherwise,
he is showing a bad example to people of the world, and not only to Catholics.
There are people who have problems , sickness etc., and is advised to hang in there, and to pray to have the grace to bear the suffering. Then our Pope quits because he is tired and cannot handle it physically. He should actually pray that God will give him the grace to lead
His church till the end of his life.
I know very few people who would tell anyone in their 70’s that they have to continue working regardless of any health issues they have. Quite the opposite.

Expecting the Pope to is a double standard.

19 Messages To People Who Still Don’t Support Marriage Equality

“Love is love!”
“Love wins!”
“Jesus is smiling today.”
“Live your own life.”
“What do you have against my happiness?”
“As a Christian, I know my Bible says to love. I hope one day you can too.”
“God loves ALL his children.”

An interesting comment on the article:

“I am a proud constitutional conservative, and I wholeheartedly support gay rights and marriage equality. Consenting, mentally sound adults have a constitutional right to love and be with whomever they choose.”

I guess she’s up for expanding the party of two to three, or more, as long as each party is a consenting and mentally sound adult regardless of sex.

Associate Justice Anthony Kennedy’s closing paragraph of the ruling:

According to Kennedy and other like-minded people, there is no such thing as “gay marriage”, just marriage.

If being a lawyer and later justice only needs a naive, amoral libertarian, if not modern liberal, outlook then I should be admitted to Yale Law school without the GMAT. If being a justice at the highest court in the land ends ultimately writing sentimental pablum like this then “the best and the brightest” have set a very low standard.

Here’s my speculation on what the Pope has said…

I believe Pope Francis is about to make some very drastic changes in the Church. This is going to upset a lot of tradiotionalists and he knows this. He is bracing himself for the backlash by “fanatics”, as he said, who will be outraged by these changes and he fears they will even assassinate him for it.
NO, NO and NO.

I hope he doesn’t quit the Papacy, what if he quits before the Pope Emeritus dies, will we have an assistant Pope Emeritus?
No… He would be another Pope Emeritus. There are dioceses with more than one Bishop Emeritus. This would be no different.

He might know something we don’t.
Yes. If he was sick, we wouldn’t know. Also, it seems to me that he is determined to work himself into the grave for The Lord.

Pope’s historically do not live long lives once they become Pope. I’m sure the stress of being Pope does lots of damage to the his body.

I imaging that Pope Francis will continue running at 100% until The Lord calls him home, or until he is physically & mentally unable to perform the duties of Supreme Pontiff.

God Bless.

Yea, just delete my post – I have no clue that ended up in the wrong thread.

Personally, I think his choice of words is a little bit of gallows humor on his part. While a lot of people accuse the left of twisting his words to suit their ends, they ignore the fact that the right doesn’t very much care for him either. Rush Limbaugh regularly calls him Marxist, while FOX New’s Greg Gutfeld calls him “the most dangerous man alive”. Even on this website, more conservative members dislike some of the more “liberal” things he says.

I imagine that even within the Church hierarchy, there’s a few people that don’t like him.

This is a totally incorrect interpretation of Pope Francis’s words. He never suggested that he would resign. He was instead saying that he does not think he will be around more than 4-5 years. This may be a bit disturbing for most people to hear but the Pope said it quite cheerfully.

I personally believe his intuition is quite right - not that he will die in a few years, but that Jesus will return in a few years and the Pope will willingly abdicate in his favor.
