(Vatican Radio) Pope Francis congratulated a single mother on her decision to give birth to two daughters, telling her “Don’t be ashamed.”
The exchange took place during a video link-up on Monday with three different U.S. cities: Chicago, Los Angeles and McAllen, Texas arranged by ABC News.

These reporters can be professional irritators. The video of the woman with her two daughter who Pope Francis told not to be ashame, is immediately followed by another in where the reporter begins by saying that "departing from Church doctrine Pope Francis…"said women who had abortion can be forgiven. Now who said that is a departure from Church doctrine?!? Yet, this reporter speaks as if she knew what she was talking about and misleads. It’s irritating.

I’d hope we might hear of scolding of the pro-choice politicians over abortion.

Having two children, even they weren’t conceived in marriage, truly is not a source of shame. Fornication or adultery, well, that’s different.

Granted, I don’t know Ms. Farfan’s story (I don’t know if she’s divorced or never married). But stories like this bother me because they project. Single parenthood itself isn’t a source of shame, therefore it doesn’t matter how one got there. It does matter.
