I noticed this has no posts. If you have any doubts about this synod, read this address. Pope Francis sets this firmly in the context of his predecessors.
 
The synod faces huge difficulties. The Church needs universal doctrines, but this goal is elusive given the variations in firmly held beliefs in different cultures. One example, in Europe and North America gays are being socially accepted while in some African countries gays are criminalized. There are many such issues to work out.
