Pope Francis's Visit to the United States

I am so troubled at the thought of Pope Francis going to the Gay House and meeting with this president who mocks so much that we stand for. Better the pope meet with an honest enemy than a chameleon-like politician.
 
I will be at the Festival of Families and the Mass; plus anything else I can attend (aka becomes public or I can get passes)
 
When Pope Benedict visited the U.K I was disappointed I didn’t go but I was there in spirit with him. One of the young people who met him ended up joining a seminary.

There are spiritual blessings that come with going to see the Pope and I think it would be very important to your country. If you can make it in any way I would seriously think about it. If you can’t try and find time to follow it live on media. But try and go if you can, peeps.

Maybe the Pope can sneak in some holy water and sprinkle the white house and congress.
 
I would love to go to one of these events, but I don’t know about standing around for 10 hours, barely able to move. I was a little disappointed to see that he wasn’t going to drive up 95 from DC and make a quick stop into Bmore.

In this case, I think he’s going as a fellow “Head of State”, just as St. John Paul II visited Clinton on at least one occasion (and Reagan on several occasions). In other words, he’ll mention the difficulties that the Vatican has with US policy in private, but in public, focus on the things that the US and the Vatican can do together.
 
I’m going to be in New York City for college starting in the fall. I am excited that I may be able to attend one of Pope Francis’ events while there, as I will be attending a Catholic university and there may be some opportunities to see him.

I don’t think you will be able to. I believe everything in NYC will be limited to the UN and a Mass limited to Priests, Deacons, Seminarians, & Religious Orders only at Madison Square Garden.

The Pope indicated that he didn’t want to take away from the World Meeting of Families, so the only public events would be in Philadelphia (especially since DC and NYC are relatively close to Philly).

So unless you are seminarian or part of a Religious Order (or work at the UN), I don’t think you will see him.
