Pope has 500,000 followers on Twitter, without a tweet [CNAU]

Our blessed Pope Benedict twittered a question.
Any suggestions on how to be more prayerful when we are so busy with the demands of work, families and the world?

Does anyone think he is looking for a public response? Some people have responded in evil ways.
I believe we should silently ask and answer that question in our hearts.
 
Just saw this on Farther Z’s blog and decided to come here and see if anyone posted about it.

I don’t know how I feel about this. I don’t use twitter or have a facebook account myself but I love reading blogs and posting on forums. I suppose it’s not a bad thing he has a twitter account. It’s a good way for him to get a message across quickly to millions of followers (last I checked he was up to 1.5 million followers? I think that was what Father Z said).

Anyway…I find it humbling that I, a 29 year old American woman, has no desire to tweet…yet the Pope does.

Part of me does want to join twitter just to be able to see what the Pope tweets (twitts? What?) about.

Did you notice the tweet after that particular question? “Offer everything you do…”. So, I do not think that the Holy Father is actually asking us to respond but, to listen. The Holy Father is teaching.

You could also just subscribe to the VIS news feed and find out about them that way. Yesterday, they posted the Holy Father’s initial Twitter blessing and today they posted the first three questions and responses that were “tweeted” yesterday.

You just don’t get them in real time. But if you don’t have a smart phone or check Twitter all the time, then you may find out faster via the VIS news releases anyway. That’s how I am, anyway. :o
 
Other prominent religious leaders also have twitter accounts. The Dalai Lama, the Patriarch of Constantinople, Rabbi Brad Hirchfield, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, etc. It would be interesting for them to comment on each other’s tweets and engage in interfaith dialogue via twitter. 🙂

Yes
The Holy Father is teaching.
I joined Twitter just to hear his word at a moments notice.
Any response to him…even what I think might be my most humble and gracious words would not be enough…so I will remain silent.
I suspect many more will greet him in a simple and favorable way on Christmas or Easter.

I also joined Twitter for the same reason. 🙂 and find it so moving that we have such a direct connection to the Holy Father. Even if it were only by proxy, I am immensely thankful. I must, must, must tweet gracious thanks to @Pontifex everytime one receives an update.
