There’s a time and a place for every discussion. Its not a lie or an omission to wait for the appropriate time and place. So, sexual orientation is never discussed? If so, are candidates aware that deep-seated same sex desires are not acceptable? Is a lie of omission still considered a lie, or has the Church changed its view on that?
Obviously anyone practicing homosexuality is a major problem for celibacy and upholding church teaching. When it comes to “presents deep-seated homosexual tendencies” this is a term that is hotly debated.“If a candidate practises homosexuality or presents deep-seated homosexual tendencies, his spiritual director as well as his confessor have the duty to dissuade him in conscience from proceeding towards ordination.”
The question is how does the Church want the document applied. You say they’re ignoring the Church, they claim they’re applying the document in the spirit the Vatican intends.Well, in that case, it is the spiritual director and confessor who are in grave error. The Church says it is their “**obligation to evaluate all the qualities of the candidate’s personality and to make sure that he does not present disturbances of a sexual nature,” **and their duty to dissuade the candidate. Shame on the spiritual directors and confessors for ignoring the Church!
