All in all, Muhammad had his goods and bads…his bads exceed his goods by far from a Christian perspective. As to comparing him to Jesus, well it’s not fair for Muhammad. You are setting the standards toooo high for him šŸ˜‰
Hi inJESUS šŸ˜‰ . pls not : Jesus and Muhammad is equal. Both are prophet of God. Messengers that bring God’s message for humankind… 😃 only small differences between them :
  1. Muhammad marriying a 9 year old girl - Jesus never get married (unless you believe the da vinci code! LOL)
  2. Muhammad killed his opponents - Jesus never killed anyone, not even an ant…
  3. Muhammad lived in a wealthy way - Jesus lived in a poor way.
  4. Muhammad raped safiya bint huyay - Jesus healed Mary Magdalene - the prostitute
  5. Muhammad robbed the caravans - Jesus fed 5000 people from 2 fish and 5 breads.
  6. Muhammad inciting hatred against the unbelievers - Jesus inciting peace against one to another.
If any one you can add the comparison between Muhammad and Jesus, please carry on to 7, 8 and on …

After his upcoming scheduled meeting with Muslim leaders this next week, the Pope needs to let this whole thing go. No apologies or any more explanations. You cannot talk to these people! Having a dialogue with folks who will always be opposed to you is an exercise in futility. Jesus is God come to earth, the Messiah, and the Muslims will never accept this. Their non acceptance of His saving grace is their problem. Enough is enough!!!
I agree. And the Pope simply called for reciprocity – allowing people in Muslim countries to have the same religious freedom that Muslims have in Western countries. I do think that Muslim countries know that if they ever grant religious freedom they would lose a lot of people to Christianity.

Hum

Didn“t Jesus kill a tree he found without fruit? ^_^U

(sorry, I“m not a native english speaker and I don“t remember the english name of that tree right now :D)

And just what exactly is the Pope supposed to do? There are at least as many Muslims as Catholics in this world. Should he stick his head in the sand and ignore them? Couldn’t even if he wanted to. Should he advocate the taking up of arms against them? Not terribly Christlike. Or should he do as he has been doing, speak his truth and keep speaking it as uncompromisingly as he can.

Yes, the Pope can continue speaking the truth WITHOUT REGARD to what the Muslims think. The poor Muslims are " so offended" now and the Pope cannot continue to bend to their every demand. We Catholic’s are fully prepared to let the Muslims practice their faith in peace. I only wish they allow us to do the same.

Well let me help you out here. A tree is not a person nor even an animal. She said Jesus never killed anyone. She did not say Jesus never killed anything. A tree is a thing. But nice try.

Does anyone think it matters that everyone is arguing to believe in one God, meanwhile, it seems that is what most people do.
With or without an argument, if the names change does God stay the same?

Sorry if that sounds like a stupid question.

Why can’t you just love God and leave it at that?

Because God is not holding a shoulder missal with a nuclear warhead attached. Elementary.

Yes, as elementary as the creator of the PERSON who does so. Prayer for everyone to a God, no matter what you were taught to call God.

I don’t mean to sound argumentative, I am just all confused about this too.

It is fighting to believe the same thing, in different ways, but there is some common ground there. It’s God. That has to mean there is a solution, in theory anyway.

Thanks for the answer though.

Radical Muslims have the desire and intent to take over the world. Does that clear up any of your confusion?

Man, I was making a joke.

The very issue of the dispute is the difference of Muslim and christian approach to the idea of religious tolerance. For those, believing Christ is the Son of God it is an obvious fact nowadays that we cna not stay Christians while forcing anyone else to accept our point of view. We simply can’t say ā€œwe will drop a nuke on you after you burned churches somwhere (a list will start with Gaza strip and include dosens of cases)ā€ without commiting a sin. On the other hand it is Ok for a Muslim to say he will kill a man just because of few words (for a real Christian even a direct offence on our Religion may only be a reason to fill pitty about a person).
The only thing which bothers me: does the God allows us to protect our Belief with force if we are offenced or it will be a violation of His principles?

Actually, its not nearly enough! The Pope did not apologize for what he said, he did not retract what he said. The Pope was sorry that his words (which were true) were so misunderstood. The Pope, and you, and I are called to live and proclaim the truth. And our good Pope Benedict is fearless in this regard. Proclaim the truth to ALL men. And to love those that hate us, while never compromising that truth. Our job is to listen, to understand, and to do our best to follow what he invites us to as the Vicar of Christ. And to pray for him. We are so blessed to have this man at this time in world. The Pope is called to be the loving witness of Christ, as are we. Love isn’t weakness or cowtowing to the irrational behavior of these Islamic extremists. Its to uncompromisingly preach and live the Truth of Christ. And, IMHO, I sayā€¦ā€œGo, Pope Benedict!ā€ What an incredible example he is for all of us!

God bless you!

Does this not corrupt heaven into an eternal sex orgy? And where do the 72 Virgins come from? Are they created by God for the sole intent of being one persons sex slaves?

Oh my, if what is being said here is true about Islamic beliefs than this ā€œallahā€ is definately not God 😦

This thread is over a year old. And as we know, Pope Benedict went to Turkey and no, no-one tried to kill him. I think some of the fears expressed here are unwarranted, as is some of the pessimism.

Grouping one billion people into a category such as ā€œthese peopleā€ and then dismissing them with wave of your hand as ā€œalways opposed to youā€ is both judgemental and illogical.

You have not met all Muslims, so how pass judgement on them? I wonder if you have ever worked with or been friends with even one Muslim?
Hi

I agree with you that the door of peaceful dialogue between Muslims and Christians must never be closed and must remain always open. This is the fruit of present day secular thinking.

May be those who close such a dialogue are on the extreme.

Thanks
